Responsibilities: Co-ordination and reporting Under the overall coordination of the Senior Protection Officer, the Migration Consultant will report directly to the Project Manager and will work in close coordination with the research consultants and members of the project team in Kassala, East Sudan. S/he will also work closely with IOM staff members in Khartoum in the implementation of joint activities designed for this project. The Migration Consultant will coordinate project activities in the East of Sudan. S/he will work with support from a national project assistant to implement activities in the refugee camps, urban centers and host communities. S/he, under the supervision of the Project Manager will also work closely with the Sudanese Commissioner for Refugees (COR) and other relevant authorities. Project activities include: 1. Organise capacity building training workshops for local authorities and partners. 2. Prepare and coordinate the distribution information materials and participate in relevant information campaigns. 3. Facilitate weekly awareness raising discussions with new arrivals on the risks involved in onward movement; identify trafficking survivors and liaise with the relevant partners for the provision of assistance and gathering of information.; 4. Develop a community policing programme in Shagarab refugee camps, to improve overall coverage, and general security in the camps; 5. Support in the establishment and management of safe houses for victims of kidnapping and trafficking. 6. Support the Project Manager in the organisation of a regional meeting and undertake other tasks as required. Monitoring and Evaluation The Migration Consultant will be tasked to monitor all implemented activities in the East, in order to assess practicality, successes, gaps and alternative steps. S/he will be required to submit written reports to the Project Manager on a monthly basis
