Reporting to the Business Services Manager and interacting with the Management team, the role will be based in the Kabanga Nickel office in Dar es Salaam. The jobholder will be responsible for the planning, implementation and management of Information Technology and Communications (ITC) infrastructure and systems for KNCL within Tanzania.
The successful candidate will have the following Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, implement and administer ICT systems and infrastructure, ensuring industrial standards
• Resolve system connectivity problems, monitoring access, usage and performance of the network
• Enforce and update network security and ensure system back-ups
• Install, configure and monitor hardware and software systems
• Provide technical advice and assistance to other departments and users of the systems
• Manage ICT contractors and consultants
• Plan and monitor budget for ICT systems, including updated inventory
• Develop ICT policy and procedure manual for users and technicians
• Provide regular status and activity reports on the ICT system and infrastructure
Technical Requirements:
Knowledge
• Network server hardware and software installation & configuration (Windows desktop & server /Cisco TCP/IP networks)
• WAN / LAN devices (routers & switches) installation and configuration
• Computer hardware maintenance and upgrading
• Operating systems installation and upgrade
• Wireless network installation and maintenance
• VHF 2Way radio communication systems
Experience
• Planning, deployment and maintenance of WAN / LAN and wireless networks
• Planning and installation of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint dedicated wireless networks
• Installation & configuration of network server hardware and software systems
• Troubleshooting and resolving WAN / LAN, Wireless Networks and Internet connectivity issues.
• Teaching end users computer applications systems.
• Managing ICT projects
Qualifications
• Degree/Advanced Diploma Computer Systems Technology
• Diploma Computer Systems Technician
• Cisco network administration certification
• Windows systems administration (Enterprise and Server) administrator certification
• Certified Fiber Optic Technician
Personal Qualities:
• At least 5 years of practical experience in a reputable organisation
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
• Ability to manage/resolve conflict
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili, strong presentation skills, and good social skills in a cross-cultural context
• Key competencies include strong interpersonal, organisational, coaching and mentoring skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Strong ethical values, creative thinking and high energy and enthusiasm
