Our Development Consulting Services (DCS) team has a full-time job opportunity for "Global Health Care Project Associate" to explore new international business/grant opportunities focusing on support for WDI's Health Care Research initiative.
The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week in our Ann Arbor office. He or she will explore new business and grant opportunities and act as liaison between the William Davidson Institute's (WDI's) DCS team and WDI's Health Care Research (HCR) initiative (and afterwards other WDI research intiatives as well) providing support including international business development, proposal preparation and project administration.
JOB DUTIES
For international business development:
•Develop a thorough content knowledge of WDI initiatives, especially that of HCR.
•Identify new business and partnering opportunities that take advantage of current trends in donor funding as well as leveraging WDI’s capabilities and resources.
•Assume ownership of the business development process from opportunity identification to proposal preparation and submission. This includes: writing proposals; assembling respective research and technical teams for proposals; leading or contributing to the development of the technical approach, personnel and management sections, corporate capability statements and budgets; prepare scopes of work and budgets for external consultants and partner organizations; working closely with the institute’s research and technical experts on partnering decisions; working closely with partner technical writers to ensure the proposal is responsive to the evaluation criteria of the solicitation; tracking deadlines and timelines and informing supervisor of any potential problem in meeting deadlines; tracking the status of proposals after submission; convening post-proposal debriefing meetings to discuss processes, other issues and lessons learned.
•Prepare and assist in negotiating teaming agreements, Memoranda of Understanding, sub-contracts with existing and new partners/funding agencies.
•Provide content for marketing materials including brochures, web pages and correspondence as required.
For project administration:
•Provide technical, financial and administrative support for DCS’ funded projects as assigned, especially related to Health Care research.
•Engage in daily communication with WDI’s field teams and counterparts to proactively address management issues, troubleshoot potential technical and contractual issues, as well as personnel issues if and when they arise.
•Provide support in the recruitment of short and long-term international staff and consultants.
•Closely manage consultants and subcontractors, including monitoring budgets, obligations, and scope of work negotiation and adjustments. Work with field teams to prepare and monitor implementation of work plans, quarterly reports, and other donor agency deliverables.
•Ensure compliance with all provisions of donor contracts (e.g., USAID contractual regulations) and WDI policies.
•Serve as main point of contact with the WDI field teams on administrative and contractual issues and on technical issues as raised by WDI's DCS team. This includes consistent email/phone follow-up, and sending all travel, personnel, and procurement related approvals.
•Quickly respond to all other client requests and requirements as needed.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public policy, languages or a related field;
•Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience (or 3 years of work experience is acceptable if in the field of international development);
•Excellent verbal and superior written English communication skills;
•Fluency in foreign language(s);
•Demonstrated ability to work in cross-cultural settings;
•Previous successful experience in project management and/or proposal writing;
•Strong interpersonal skills; ability to successfully interact with all levels of management, faculty, staff, clients and counterparts in the field of international development;
•Demonstrated ability to prioritize when faced with a myriad of tasks and possession of strong organizational skills and an attention to details;
•Proactive and highly motivated professional who will grow with expansion of responsibilities;
•Experience traveling, living or working abroad in emerging economies is highly desirable;
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), e-mail and the Internet;
•Able to travel locally and abroad if required.
•Must be eligible/authorized for full-time employment in the USA.
