States as well as developing a new partnership worldwide. Its Headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia.
In seeking to achieve these objectives, the African Union intends to strengthen its capacity to deliver by, among others, the implementation of new organization structure and the filling of vacant posts.
The Commission of the African Union invites applicants who are citizens of Member States for the post of Senior Policy Officer- Private Sector Development /Investment and Resource Mobilization.

2. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise the activities undertaken by policy officers under the overall responsibility of the Director of the Department;
• Initiate activities to develop and strengthen African private sector by networking with the policymakers and stakeholders key actors;
• Follow-up of the implementation of the Micro-Finance Plan of Action;
• Follow-up of the Africa-Europe Business Forum and the Africa-India Business
Forum;

• Prepare concept papers and propose policies that will ensure an enabling environment that will boost the attractiveness of the Africa continent in terms of
FDI /ODA;
• Initiate policies that will increase the visibility of the potential of the African private sector and will impact positively on channeling additional capital resources;
• Lead the organization of Private Sector Forum in collaboration with key partners from African Private Sector aiming at bringing more awareness on business and investment opportunities among the business community
• Contribute to elaborate the future African harmonized Investment codes which will encompass the best practices from the AU members
• Undertake the duties related to financial resources mobilization including the innovative sources of financing and the alternative sources of financing the AU;
• Contribute to the implementation of project related to the African Business Directory and ensure their full implementation;
• Work in close cooperation with the different RECs (Regional Economic Communities) and ensure their involvement in all aspect related to the Private sector issues
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned in the Department.
4. Qualifications and Experience Required:
The candidate for this post should:
• Hold a Masters University degree in economics or banking or finance or business administration, with at least 7 years work experience;
• Should have published in scientific and/or professional journals in the field of private sector development/investment;
5. Professional experience required:
Have experience in national or international institutions at a managerial level in private sector development/investment and have knowledge of private sector development issues;

5. Other Relevant Skills:
• Should be able to work in multicultural setting, in good team spirit;
• Must be computer literate.
6. Language Requirement:
Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages. Proficiency of one or several other working language(s) would be an added advantage.
7. Age Requirement:
Candidates must preferably be between 30 and 45 years old.
8. Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment will be made on fixed term contract for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months be consider as a probationary period. Thereafter, the contract will be for a period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and deliverables.

10. Remuneration:
Indicative basic salary US$33,619.00 per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. post adjustment (46% of basic salary), housing allowance (US$14,414.40 per annum), education allowance (75% of tuition and other related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$7,800.00 per child per annum), etc. for internationally recruited staff of the Commission.
