The U.S. Mission Addis Ababa is seeking an individual for the position of Program Assistant in the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Under direct supervision of Public Affairs Assistant the incumbent assists the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) and Public Affairs Assistant with management and administration of the Public Affairs Section and its outreach programs. Maintains the Public Affairs Section program and multipurpose room calendars, and provides administrative and logistical support for PAS grant, outreach, exchange and media programs; handles travel and representation vouchers. Orders necessary supplies; prepares event and other invitations; serves as first point of contact for PAS visitors and callers. Incumbent works on special projects with the Public Affairs Officer, such as book discussion and donation programs; and backs up the Public Affairs Assistant and other PAS staffers as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. Required Education: Bachelor degree in English, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Management, Public Adminstration, Human Rsources Management, Psychology, History, Anthropology, Management Information System, Marketing Management, Accounting, Law or Economics is required.
2. Required Experience: A minimum of two years prior office/administrative work is required.
3. Language Requirement: Level 4/4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading of English and Amharic is required. (English language proficiency will be tested)
4. Other Skills: Thorough knowledge of local customs and work practices of government ministries and other local institutions; State Department regulations in the Foreign Affairs Manual pertaining to Public Diplomacy programs; the Locally Engaged Staff handbook; the Public Diplomacy Strategic Plan and the Mission Strategic and Resource Plan are required. Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to effectively use typical office software and equipment; and ability to communicate with PAS contacts and other Mission staffers on outreach, exchange, media and information program issues are also required.
5. Interpersonal Skill Requirements: Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and other embassy personnel is required.
SELECTION PROCESS
