Thematic Brief – “Managing the transition: Supporting early recovery and linking relief to development”
The Advanced Training Program on Humanitarian Action (ATHA) is a joint initiative of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research at Harvard University (HPCR). The ATHA program works to strengthen the capacity of professionals operating in the humanitarian context. In keeping with this effort, HPCR is commissioning a series of Thematic Briefs in order to provide a more detailed, in-depth treatment of relevant dilemmas in the field of humanitarian action.
Drafted specifically for the development community, the objective of each Thematic Brief is to inform and engage its target audience by offering short (8-12 pages, plus minimal annex), easily accessible (with infographics, pop-out boxes), policy-focused case study around key areas of concern to the management of humanitarian assistance. As such the Briefings should present up-to-date information presented for professionals working in relevant organizations.
HPCR welcomes applications for the commission, from interested individuals who have extensive experience or information specific to the stipulated topic. All interested parties should email a brief outlined proposal as well as a brief biography (1 paragraph is sufficient) on the experience of the submitting individual in the subject matter no later than September 30, 2011 to cblunt@hsph.harvard.edu. Remuneration will be offered to the selected individual.
