Position Title: Field Veterinary/Animal health Assistant officer
Project : Common Humanitarian Funds (CHF)
Duty station: South Sudan
Duration: 6 months (Renewable)

ROLE Under the supervision of Veterinary/Animal Health Officer, the Assistant Veterinary/Animal Health Officer will implement, monitor and supervise CHF field veterinary activities in accordance with VSF Belgium and donor standards and guidelines.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY FUNCTIONS
To lead in field project establishment and management in the following activities;
Work in collaboration with animal health officer and veterinary officer to plan, promote, establish and strengthen community based structure
Implement field veterinary activities and training activities
Provide technical support to the local livestock workers
Ensure project implementation in accordance with VSF-Belgium standard and guidelines
Support livestock need assessment
Carry out animal health trainings for all cadres of animal health workers.
Carry out community meetings and workshops together with animal health officer/veterinary officer
Ensure adequate veterinary inputs are available in the field and are distributed to animal health worker
Assistant animal health workers in develop work plan
Monitor and supervise community based animal health structure and animal health Assistant
Administer field project inputs and resources management in the following activities;
• Responsible to the beneficiaries to have their views incorporated in all plans activities
• Ensure that the vaccine fridge is being correctly maintained
To oversight the field project monitoring and evaluation in the following ways,
Ensure the CHF project monitoring structure and tools are used in monitoring animal workers activities
Collect CHF Project data in the prescribed formats for monthly reports
Provide assessment and situation reports from field location
To have regular and timely reporting to the field animal health officer/veterinary Officer
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Diploma in Veterinary medicine, animal health sciences or equivalent
• Additional qualifications in community development would be an added advantage
Knowledge and experience
• At least four years in veterinary field experience
• At least three years experience implementing livestock related and community based animal health projects in pastoral areas
• Experience in facilitation of livestock development activities
• Experience in managing curative and disease control strategies in pastoralist communities
• Knowledge of the guidelines for CAHW training and support
• Experience working with a livestock NGO would be an advantage
