PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The incumbent is accountable for providing technical expertise, guidance and leadership in the Engineering fraternity at Obuasi Mine. The incumbent will also be accountable for the effective system implementation and control. He will ensure quality deliverables on systems implemented and will also apply direct supervision and develop succession plans for the young and upcoming engineers. This will include experience and knowledge transfer to ensure best practice culture being adopted.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Be in possession of a BSc Degree, National diploma (Mechanical and or Electrical) or equivalent.
- Have obtained a Government certificate of competency Mechanical or Electrical.
- Have a minimum of 5 years' experience as a Engineer.
- Have an understanding of application of Mine Health and Safety Standards for the mining operations.
- Have practical experience in operation and maintenance of shafts, fridge plants, compressors, conveyor belts and transportation of equipment.
- Have a proven track record of consistent performance.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant AngloGold Ashanti Ltd's Occupational Health Centre.
- Have Registration with ECSA (optional).

- Contractors appointment and management.
- Quality assurance and quality control.
- Embed reliability engineering.
- Create procedures and ensure implementation and compliance.
- Set context in assigning of tasks by emphasis on the WHAT, HOW and WHY (Context, Purpose, Quality, Quantity, Time / resources).
- Address competence, attitude and appropriate behaviour by on the job training, coaching and assessing the ability.
- Create, maintain and enforce a disciplined environment whilst maintaining values.

REMUNERATION:
The successful candidate will be appointed on a 2 year expatriate contract, which may be renewed, regular leave breaks will apply. The successful candidate would be offered a US dollar based salary.
