OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : The CT/AFRO will collaborate with WHO/HQ related structures in the area of compliance work and support AFRO clusters, Inter Country Support Teams (ISTs) and the 46 Country offices and Liaison offices in providing high-quality advice on audit and compliance issues. | |
Description of duties: 1.Carry out compliance reviews of activities of the 46 WCO and the 5 Clusters of AFRO as well as of selected functional areas (procurement, travel, budget monitoring, etc); 2.Together with the CCO, the incumbent will analyse and assess AFRO's control framework and workflows and make recommendations for improvement; 3.Assist managers in implementing audit recommendations and rectifying control weaknesses, as needed; 4.Carry out fact finding missions, as requested by the RD; 5.Provide training to AFRO staff on internal controls issues; 6.Keep close contacts with Operations Assistant and Managers on internal control issues; and 7.Carry out any other tasks, as requested by supervisor. | |
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS | |
Education: Essential: Master degree in accounting or law or public administration. Desirable: Certification in auditing, such as Certified Internal Auditor. | |
Skills: Knowledge of auditing principles and their applications. Understanding of accounting and financial principles; Good knowledge of management and use of ERP systems, such as Oracle. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, in oral and writing; Maturity of judgement, tact, integrity and discretion; Ability to establish effective working relationships with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds, Ability to apply IT technology when needed | |
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience at national/international level in management/auditing, using an ERP system, such as Oracle or SAP. Desirable: Working experience with WHO or UN Agencies would be an asset. | |
Languages: Good knowledge of English or French and a working knowledge of the other. Knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset. | |
Annual salary: (Net of tax) US$ 67,483 at single rate US$ 72,467 with primary dependants | Post Adjustment: 67.7 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation. |
