SENIOR TRANSMISSION ENGINEER, SDH & PDH

Reporting to: Transmission Manager

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or other related disciplines.
  • 4 years working experience on SDH and PDH Networks
  • Proven track record of achievements at a managerial level.
  • Postgraduate level in any related field is an added advantage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To lead the troubleshooting of both fiber and microwave radio systems.
  • To operate and maintain the microwave links and other transmission Network Elements.
  • To provide high level support to all regional engineers.
  • To familiarize and take ownership of the impact of network availability and cost to the overall P&L of Uganda Telecom.
  • To proactively take responsibility for self-improvement by staying well-informed of developments, knowledge and innovations in transmission network.
  • To carry out network configurations for new services and resolve faults in the response time KPIs.
  • To adjust and update E1 Mapping for SDH and PDH network for easy identification of network faults.
  • To ensure transmission network quality monitoring and immediate escalation with suitable input that can help the colleagues in prompt resolution, fault or optimizing the network.
  • To meet transmission quality and performance KPIs with supporting documents of tests conducted.
  • To ensure that the transmission Manager is informed on all critical issues pertaining to the transmission network availability and quality.
  • To respond to the work order submitted by Transmission manager and ensure effective close of the work order.
  • To implement a spares tracking mechanism for the Transmission network and ensure that all engineers adhere to it.
  • To lead in the implementation of Transmission projects
  • To mentor and guide Transmission Engineers
  • To prepare weekly & monthly performance reports of the Transmission Network.
