KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that commodities component of FFE project is managed well, with high levels of accountability and that food commodities reach intended beneficiaries on schedule and in good condition.
- Ensure safe, suitable, adequate storage capacity and transport for internal delivery of food commodities from port of Nacala to warehouses and then to schools.
- Implement mechanisms to ensure effective warehouse operations and commodity storage and commodities tracking
- Develop and implement capacity building strategy.
- Undertake spot checks on each field site once a month to ensure standards are maintained – warehouses, project/work sites.
- Project reporting.
- Supervise commodity and financial accounting and staff to ensure records are accurate and meet required standards of accountability.
- Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the mechanism established for delivery of the Commodities Programme objectives in Nampula Province.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- At least a BA degree in a relevant field, likely in development.
- Demonstrated ability to relate well with local staff and host country government officials
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Ability in Portuguese is highly desirable.
- Skilled in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Lotus Notes
- Experience in training and capacity building is highly desired
- Thorough knowledge of WV commodities tracking system
- Demonstrated leadership, planning and organizational skills
- Must be familiar with WV Food Commodity Manual
PREFERRED: - At least 5 years of experience in commodity.
- Experience with US government grants and especially food grants is an advantage.
