School Principal -Bulyanhulu Gold Mine

African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Mine seeks to employ an experienced School Principal. ABG is currently providing world-class teaching services to students at the Bulyanhulu School which is located at the mine site. This is an English Medium school with international students situated in a remote area, Kahama District within Shinyanga region, Tanzania. The School Principal will work collaboratively with the Training & Development Manager to coordinate, manage, supervise and provide leadership for all educational and administrative school activities.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Preparing the school curriculum, and coordinating the preparation of documentation and correspondence related to Tanzanian and International Educational requirements
• Facilitating the communication of student’s progress and school information to students, teachers, and parents
• Publishing School Newsletters
• Implementing and ensuring compliance with all school policies, directives and initiatives
• Collaborating in the planning and implementation of the school’s strategic plan and goals
• Managing the preparation, presentation and maintenance of the school budget
• With the Training Manager, arrange the personal and physical resources to meet the learning needs of students
• Supervise and evaluate the teacher and support staff
• Maintain discipline throughout the school
• Organize special events, celebrations, assemblies, and extra-mural activities
• Maintain the school property
• Develop a safe and caring environment in which mutual trust and respect is evident
• Oversee the Adult Language Learning Program at Bulyanhulu School ( BIPS )
• Grow the school enrolment in conjunction with Company needs and initiatives and management decisions and instructions.
• Prepare regular reports on School progress (weekly, monthly etc.)

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

Education Requirements:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in teaching/ education
• Further studies would be advantageous

Experience Requirements:

• A minimum of 10 years previous elementary teaching experience
• Experience in teaching and curriculum development
• Experience in personnel administration as well as educational programme administration
• Experience in education planning, school law, school finance and instructional supervision
• Experience working cooperatively with people of various social and culture backgrounds
• Computer literacy is a definite advantage for this position (MS Office Suite)
• Excellent command of the English language (written, oral and literacy) is expected
