DRILL AND BLAST SUPERVISORS (3)
Reporting to the Drill and Blast Foreman we seek to appoint a Drill and Blast Supervisor at our Buzwagi Gold Mining Operation.
Roster type: 7 days night shift, 7 days day shift and 7 days off
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensure that working conditions are in compliance with Tanzanian Explosive Regulations, Mining (safe working) Regulations 1999) and Barrick Buzwagi Health Safety and Environmental site requirements.
• Provide Leadership necessary to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety standards that exceed world industry standards and any applicable legislation and achieve Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) Frequency Rate.
• Supervise operator practices to ensure ZERO damage to equipment and Placement of tower lights on time for the night shift, and at the right place
• Organize supply of rock drilling tools, care and efficient utilisation including coordinating sharpening and hammer rebuild in a timely fashion.
• Ensure the rigs are well set up on the drill pattern to avoid accident and avoid bad utilization of the rigs (movement of the rigs when drilling).
• Co-ordinate with Geology and Mine Supervisors for timely availability of floors for blast holes drilling.
• Report breakdowns, equipment damage, safety near miss incidents and accidents according to the procedures laid out including completing the Shift report at the end of each shift.
• Deputise for Drill and Blast Foreman as required.
• Any other duties that may be assigned to fulfill the overall business objective.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• Tertiary Qualification in Mining/Secondary Education
• Blasting Competence/Certificate
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years in large open pit hard rock mining with at two years recent experience in RC or large diameter DTH drilling.
• DTH and RC Drilling operations
• Drilling planning, Drill Rigs selection and performance
MINE SHIFT SUPERVISORS (4)
Reporting to the Mine Foreman we seek to appoint a Mine Shift Supervisors at our Buzwagi Gold Mining Operation.
Roster type: 7 days night shift, 7 days day shift and 7 days off
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• This role is a Supervisory role and is accountable for ensuring the Production Team is well aligned, supported and motivated to achieve the targets.
• Ensure Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA) is carried out before commencement and during execution of tasks. Ensure that working conditions are in compliance with the Barrick Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental site requirements and that works are performed to the approved Safe Working Procedures (SWP).
• In conjunction with the Mine Foreman, ensure that the shift crew is correctly allocated and assigned.
• Direct supervision of working locations – Pits, Waste Dumps, Haul Roads and ROM Pad to ensure that personnel operate the equipment safely and efficiently to achieve the production targets.
• Preparation of daily digging plan in conjunction with the Pit Production Engineers and develop the work plan for face advances to achieve the desired plan.
• In conjunction with the Dispatchers ensure that the mining fleet is optimally utilised.
• Co-ordinate with Geology and Drill Supervisors for timely availability of floors for grade control and drill and blast respectively.
• Report breakdowns, equipment damages, safety near misses, incidents and accidents according to the Barrick laid out procedures including completing the Shift report at the end of each shift.
• Any other duties that may be assigned to fulfil the overall business objective of the organisation
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• Tertiary Qualification in Mining/Secondary Education
• Able to drive and hold a Tanzanian driving license
Experience Requirements:
• A minimum 5 years relevant experience in the mining industry as a Supervisor, Leading Hand or Foreman.
• Experience in large open pit operations utilising excavators and trucks is essential.
• Ability to interpret mine plans and effectively communicates targets and goals.
• Prior use of and understanding of Dispatching Software will be an added advantage
MAINTENANCE TRAINING FOREMAN
Reporting to the Training Superintendent we seek to appoint a Maintenance Training Foreman at our Buzwagi Gold Mining Operation.
Roster type: 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Develop and implement training strategies and programs to support the development and enhancement of the skills and knowledge of the Buzwagi Process Plant workforce in support of workplace objectives
• Mentor and provide guidance to Training staff in support of established training programs
• Closely monitor the progress of trainees and take appropriate action to ensure that participants achieve the required standard of competency in a safe and cost efficient manner
• Develop, coordinate and ensure implementation of Maintenance operating programs in association with the Maintenance Trainers
• Establish and maintain, in coordination with administrative staff, an efficient system for the recording of all training and competency assessment checks
• Provide on a monthly basis, a detailed report of training activities and statistics conducted during the period to the Health, Safety & Training Manager
• Provide input into the establishment of an annual training budget
• Provide specialised safety related training for employees in relation to identified concerns such as fatigue management, hearing protection, risk management etc.
• Periodically fulfil the responsibilities and accountabilities of the Health, Safety & Training Manager
• Any other duties deemed appropriate by the Health, Safety & Training Manager
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• Mechanical Fitter Machinist Trade background
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessing
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance of a processing plant environment in a supervisory role with a minimum of 2 years experience supervising highly regarded training within that environment
• Sound understanding of training and development strategies
• Workplace training and assessing experience with a focus on the training of site personnel in safe work practices. Equipment or plant operating experience
