As a result of the successful growth of our organization we are now searching a:
DIRECTOR AFRICA
You will be responsible for defining and developing a regional value proposition, in line with the Forum’s mission and strategy. You will manage the regional team, and initiate and direct community building activities to successfully deliver the regional value proposition. You will ensure that regional agendas are forward-looking, taking into account the latest developments in the global, regional and industry arenas.
You will lead and coordinate regional meetings and communities, councils and advisory groups, and develop strong relationships with government leaders in the region. You will develop and nurture regional expertise within the team and leverage in-house expertise in the development and implementation of regional activities. You will also be responsible for securing regional participation of senior business leaders and public figures in the Annual Meeting and other Forum events.
Candidates applying for the position should have:
• At least eight years of managerial experience
• International experience, ideally having worked in both the private and public sectors
• A Master’s degree in a relevant area
• The capability to work on multiple strategic initiatives/projects at the same time
• Excellent communication skills and a perfect command of written and spoken English, with knowledge of a second language
Ideally, a successful candidate would also bring:
• Strong leadership capabilities
• A proven track record of good people management, as well as people development examples and a strong understanding of change management
• The ability to be diplomatic, both bilaterally and multilaterally, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with senior leaders across the private and public sectors
• A performance-driven outlook
• A broad knowledge of Africa’s political, business and social environment, while also understanding risks and opportunities for the region (strong analytical skills)
• The ability to persuade in an effective manner
• The skills to lead and facilitate effective moderation/negotiations
• The capability to build effective relationships, as well as build strong networks
• A deep understanding of Africa and proven credibility with key African public, private and civil society figures
