Acacia Mining seeks to employ a Process Operator based at Buzwagi Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Process Plant First Line Leader and the role holder will be accountable to deliver quality grinding/ ore comminution process operations in order to meet production targets in a safe and timely manner as per shift assignment and according to Acacia Buzwagi Health and safety standards and procedures.
This is a permanent role, with the work roster being seven days day shift, seven days night shift and seven days off.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, completion of Field Level Risk Assessments and Job Hazard Identification, incident/accident reporting etc.
• Maintain grinding tools/ appliances and equipment integrity and equipment availability.
• Conduct fault finding and logging of identified faults in the log book.
• Prevention of further equipment damage/ faults and follow up of outstanding maintenance/ repairs.
• Conduct pre-shift operational inspections (pre-start checks including the completion of the check list).
• Completion of shift handover process documentation (shift grinding log sheet and other required documentation).
• Conduct on-the-job task observations (PTO) / assessments.
• Grinding area / circuit general operation and monitoring in a safe, efficient and productive manner.
• Adherence to grinding section safe operating procedures.
• Start-up grinding plant operation in sequence and sshutdown in sequence and/or isolate grinding plant and equipment.
• Ensure accurate and timely grinding readings sample collection and the logging of readings into the shift grinding log sheet.
• Monitoring the following parameters i.e. feed rate, particle size, water addition, steel ball addition, mills weight and power according to the metallurgical requirement.
• Performing sieving for manual PSI analysis.
• Labeling of sample bucket / container and plastic bag.
• Cleaning / washing sampling tools or equipment to minimize contamination.
• Accumulate the required sample volume for the specific time.
• Conducting operation of pebble crusher, SAG and Ball mills, cyclones, apron feeders and conveyor, pumps and valves, trash, gravity and pebble dewatering screens, chip removal (belt magnet), and gravity (Knelson concentrator).
• Knowledge of lubrication system operation.
• Timely charging of grinding steel balls.
• Cleaning feed chute/ hopper level sensors.
• Operating mills inching drive.
• Unplugging SAG and Ball mill feed chute, conveyors and feeders discharge chute, and sump pumps and pipes.
• Cleaning ball mill trommel screen and cleaning and replacing the screen panel.
• Operating mobile equipment, overhead crane & rigging.
• Performing mills grind out.
• Measuring pebble crusher gap.
• Removing and replacing back mills feed chute.
• Adhering to water hose application procedure and manual handling procedure.
• High pressure washer machine operation.
• Timely reporting of any spillage or leakages.
• Timely conveyor build up removal/ shoveling and removal of trashes container/ boxes.
• Rubbish and left overs collection and proper segregation of wastes.
• Proper tools and equipment allocation.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Form VI Secondary Education
• FTC / Trade Certificate - Test grade 1 in mineral processing/ relevant
Experience Requirements:
• At least 1 year experience in Grinding/ Milling Process Operation.
• 2-3 years’ experience in Process plant operation.
• Experience with conveyor operation, crusher (Gyratory/ Jaw) operation, pumps and valves operation, sample collection and submission.
• Experience with raw material/ stockpile operation.
• Experience with cyclone/ classification process operation.
• Experience with Gravity/ Concentrator operation.
• Ability to troubleshoot operational problems.
