Acacia Mining seeks to employ an experienced General Manager based at North Mara Gold Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and the role holder will be accountable to provide leadership and strategic development of North Mara Mine to achieve positive results for the stakeholders in a 2-5 year timeframe.
This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.
North Mara Gold Mine Overview
North Mara commenced commercial production in 2002 and has produced over 2 million ounces to date. The current life of mine is estimated to be 9 years based on proven and probable gold reserves of 2 million ounces.
The North Mara gold deposits are situated in the Mara Musoma greenstone belt. The mine is located in northeast Tanzania in the Tarime district of the Mara region. It is around 100 km east of Lake Victoria and 20 km south of the Kenyan border.
There are several types of gold mineralisation including shear-zone-related quartz vein and disseminated gold. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits, Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open pit).
The process plant has the capacity to process an average of 8,000 tonnes of ore per day, (or c. 2.8 million tonnes per year) and produces both doré.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ensure that the systems exist and are auditable with improvements identified and implemented after audits.
Ensure compliance with the systems and that the systems help key users to get their jobs done.

Reduction in All-In Sustaining Costs (AISC)
Continuation of evaluation of Rama’s underground potential - U/G scoping / feasibility study to be completed and presented to the Board
Increase in resource ounces by replacing the mined ounces every 5 years i.e. adding 1.1m oz at the current rate of mining
Increase in OEE
Maintain ROC at 15%
Ensure that material risk is well managed and that key (high) risks on the whole of the business matrix for North Mara achieve a rating of well managed and critical controls are effective and residual risk is medium
Completion of land acquisition for all waste dump footprints and Buffer zones to be acquired
Establish a self-sustaining Business Improvement culture

Reduction in North Mara Operations turnover and absenteeism rates
Improvement in Employee survey results/ feedback

Ensure that team members have completed 'Potentially Exposed Person' attestations and completed anti-corruption questionnaires with due diligence on appropriate individuals identified as PEPs
Decrease in significant findings in anti-corruption risk assessments
Improvement in score on site human rights risk assessments
100% compliance with Company procedures for government support related payments & donations, including calculating, central approval and coding

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Relevant Tertiary qualification
• Post tertiary qualification will be an added advantage
• MBA would be ideal
• Professional Registration will be an added advantage
• Mine Manager’s certificate would be ideal
Experience Requirements:
• 15 years’ experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years’ experience in an operational leadership role.
• Must have completed at least 6 month project in BI
• 3 years’ experience in Community Relations / Security in a “difficult” environment.
