JOB VACANCY: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
POSITIONS: 1
LOCATION: Dar es Salaam

Position purpose
 The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial controller in the management of the Accounting & Reporting functions.

 Key responsibilities include statutory & tax compliance, financial reporting, and management accounting.

Key accountabilities
 Assist the Financial Controller with the preparation of AUMS’s Management/Financial Statements.
 Develop and implement processes and systems which facilitate the achievement of the company's overall business strategy and objectives.
 Develop and maintain appropriate internal controls and financial accounting policies and procedures.
 Ensure timely preparation of reports and management accounts.
 Manage the preparation and audit of statutory and other compliance financial reports ensuring the accounting records of the organisation and associated entities are maintained in accordance with accepted practices and standards.
 Support the financial controller on all accounting requirements including taking the lead when the Financial Controller is on R&R.
 Effectively engage with all key stakeholders including the management team and all external parties.
 Provide support to other junior team members within the Finance function.

Essential Requirements

 5 years post qualification experience in a senior position in accounting, finance, management and systems preferably in a mining or a mining services environment.
 Sound working knowledge of in country taxation legislation.
 Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
 High level of integrity.
 Dependably provide sound support and where required recommendations.
 Strong sense of urgency and outcomes focused.
 Sound English communications skills.
 Sound time management, planning and cost management skills are essential.
 The ability to engage with fellow employees with good demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including consultation.
 Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
 Experience with Accounting software, Payroll and reporting tools.
 Information security – appreciate the importance of securing commercial and confidential information.
 Safety - observe safety procedures and use equipment and materials properly.

Desirable Requirements

 Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
 Knowledge of Pronto.
 Previous experience within a mining or mining services company.

Essential Education/Qualifications
 Tertiary Accounting Qualification.

Desirable education/qualifications
 Studying towards a CPA.

 The Assistant Accountant is to provide support to the Financial Controller and general accounting assistance to staff within the Finance function as directed by their immediate manager.

Key accountabilities
 Assist the Financial Controller with the preparation of AUMS’s Management/Financial Statements.
 Complete all transactional tasks associated with the Fixed Asset Register and maintenance of the register.
 Assist with audit preparation.
 Ensure integrity of data is maintained so that financial and reporting information is timely and accurate.
 Responsible for processing of journals, invoices and other financial transactions across all AUMS’s financial activities.
 Preparation of reconciliations of company’s accounts.
 Be able to provide support to other team members within the Finance function.
