Acacia Mining seeks to employ a Plant Metallurgist based at Buzwagi Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Metallurgical Section Leader and the role holder will be accountable to deliver quality metallurgical / technical support to the Process Plant operation team and to ensure that the Plant operates in an efficient and productive manner in accordance with Acacia Buzwagi OSHE standards and procedures.
This is a permanent role, with the work roster being fourteen days on and seven days off.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.
• Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, completion of Field Level Risk Assessments and Job Hazard Identification, incident/accident reporting etc.
• Completion of on-the-job task observations (PTO) / assessments.
• Provide technical leadership to the Buzwagi Process Plant operation to ensure that agreed targets are achieved within safety and environmental guidelines in the areas of:
Mill Availability, Throughput and Recovery; and
Process Operating & Maintenance Costs and Capital Expenditure.
• Conduct Process Plant trouble shooting as required.
• Fully participate in the Plant’s planned and unplanned shutdowns.
• Regularly perform inspections of the instruments ensuring that all instruments are working.
• Ensure adequate cyanide and WAD control and maintain WAD/TAC spare parts counting and stock control.
• Supervise all activities of the Metallurgical Laboratory, including calibration and ensure the accuracy of plant technical equipment.
• Conduct and monitor sampling activities and provide quality assurance and quality control on all Metallurgical Samples, and ensure that they are delivered to the Assay Laboratory in a timely manner.
• Conduct laboratory test work, analysis and reporting as required.
• Conduct plant surveys, analysis and reporting as required.
• Prepare accurate and timely Plant daily production reports (morning and evening reports).
• Update elution/ strips, crusher and mill downtimes and report daily.
• Preparation of the Process Plant weekly production report.
• Compile the 13 weeks rolling forecast plan.
• Set the weekly production plan in collaboration with the Process Plant, Mining and Geology departments.
• Operational budget and forecast i.e. weekly, monthly, quarterly etc.
• Assist with the Process Plant LOM Budget and Forecast preparation and updates.
• Maintaining supplies and consumables availability and auditing of consumables consumption rate.
• Coordination of gold bullion dispatching including preparation of the bullion shipment schedule, cell cleaning, smelting, shipment (helicopter booking) and estimation of gold prior to cell cleaning and shipment.
• Prepare the bullion sheet and coordinate the government officials boxing and sealing of bullion.
• Metallurgical reconciliation and monthly reports preparation (mid-month and month-end reconciliation, monthly report for down times, crusher and reagents, bullion and copper adjustments).
• Coordination of Copper concentrate handling, i.e. concentrate sample collection and submission, loading into sea containers and dispatching, including logistical arrangements.
• SAG, Ball and Regrind Mills liner inspection, stock control, reline coordination and development of liners wearing profile to predict the liners replacement.
• Champion and monitor process plant compliances (ICMI recertification, cyanide compliance, radiation inspections etc.).
• Continually review every aspect of the Process Plant to ensure that opportunities to add value and enhance shareholder wealth are identified.
• Participate in Metallurgical Business Improvement (BI) projects and ensure the use of BI tools.
• Provide technical input into the development of training packages.
• Assist with the development of Plant Operators and Graduate Metallurgists by training and mentoring them.

Qualification Requirements:
• Degree in Metallurgy/ Chemical /Mineral Processing
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience in process operations and gold production including experience with gravity recovery, base metals flotation, CIL and gold reconciliation.
• Must have experience with:
Metallurgical gold production and consumables accounting and reconciliation
Copper concentrate management
Laboratory activities and monitoring
Gold room operation
Process Plant compliances (e.g. cyanide code ICMI and radiation source)
