Acacia Mining seeks to employ an Instrumentation Technician based at Buzwagi Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Electrical & Instrumentation First Line Leader and the role holder will be accountable to deliver quality maintenance, repairs and installation of instruments as per shift assignment in accordance with Acacia Buzwagi health and safety standards and procedures.
This is a permanent role, with the work roster being seven days day shift, seven days night shift and seven days off.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Attendance at compulsory Safety courses.
• Conduct repair and preventative maintenance on mining instrumentation and process control systems to achieve production and cost targets.
• Ensuring that plant instrumentation is maintained effectively and efficiently so that the required throughput and performance can be achieved.
• Monitor and report on plant instrument equipment integrity, working area integrity and identified instrument faults and ensure the logging of identified faults in the log book.
• Provide accurate and timely feedback to the Electrical & Instrumentation First Line Leader on conditions that may affect functionality of equipment.
• Must be able to use skills and knowledge to rectify the identified equipment faults and ensure the prevention of further equipment damage/ faults.
• Completion of prestart check list.
• Complete shift handover process.
• Ensure equipment availability and follow up of outstanding maintenance.
• Maintaining very high housekeeping standards of the work areas.
• Maintain a culture of cost awareness and achieve cost reductions through effective maintenance and repairs.
• Exhibition of continuous improvement by providing valuable ideas to the betterment of the employees and the business.
• Ensure adherence to all Acacia policies and procedures.
• Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Electrical & Instrumentation First Line Leader.
• To contribute actively, think critically, support peers.
• To complete tasks on time and to standard.
• To concentrate and collaborate.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Must have completed an internationally recognized training in Instrumentation & Control or a Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in the Instrumentation discipline.
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of three years and above post training experience in instrumentation.
• Previous experience with control systems, Siemens PLC and Citect Scada will be highly regarded.
• Exposure to electrical systems will be an added advantage.
