NIMR - Mbeya Medical Research Centre is one of the NIMR centres located in Mbeya within the Mbeya Referral Hospital compound. The centre is currently conducts research on HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis. It is operated under collaboration between the Mbeya Referral Hospital, the Mbeya Regional Medical Office, Department of Infectious Diseases & Tropical Medicine at University of Munich and U.S. Military HIV Research Program.
NIMR Mbeya Medical research Centre is looking for qualified, experienced and motivated persons to fill the below vacant positions in the TB and HIV departments whose duty station will be at Mbeya City.
1. CLINICAL OFFICER (3 positions)
Job Description
• Conduct medical examination/ investigation and provide appropriate treatment as per study protocal.
• Identify problems occurring in the clinical setting and determine possible solutions and implement them.
• Conduct counseling to the study participants
• Participate in study design, filling of case report forms; ensure proper documentation and filling of forms, report writing and publication of study results.
• Other related duties assigned to you from time to time by your superior.
QUALIFICATION
• Holder of Diploma in Clinical Medicine
• Work experience of not less than three years in reputable organization
• Age between 25 – 40 yrs
3.0 STUDY NURSES (3 positions)
QUALIFICATIONS:
A suitable candidate should:
• Holder of diploma in nursing from reputable organization
• S/he must be a registered nurse
• Have an interest to be involved in treatment and care of HIV positive patients both on an in-patient and out-patient level as much as practical activities of the National Cervical Carcinoma Screening Program.
• Have interest to pursue a career in clinical research in Tanzania, preferably documented by previous involvement in research projects of any kind.
• Preferably have at least one year work experience with focus on internal medicine/HIV or Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Further formal training in HIV (e.g. counseling, treatment literacy, PMTCT, PITC) would be an asset.
PERSONAL SKILLS
• High degree of commitment
• Developed Communication skills
• Results orientation – ability to meet deadlines with competing priorities.
• Willing to work independently in a multidisciplinary team.

JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
REPORTING: IT and Maintenance Manager
MISSION: Within the framework of the NIMR - MMRC objectives his/ her mission is:
• To ensure that maintenance jobs are carried out effectively and at minimum cost.
• By proper utilization of skills and tools contribute your best in ensuring smooth operation of NIMR – MMRC equipments and systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Carry out regular service and maintenance of electrical, electronics and other equipments of NIMR – MMRC.
• Ensure smooth operation of all three standby generators by carrying out planned and corrective maintenance
• Coordinate the refueling of diesel in all three standby generators.
• Carry out maintenance and monitoring performance of air conditions within NIMR – MMRC buildings.
• Closely monitoring of temperature in freezers, fridges and incubators and come up corrective measures whenever it happens that there are irregularities.
• Attend on time the call of dial/temperature monitoring system
• Carry out maintenance and monitoring of the air filter system in laboratories.
• Supporting the maintenance and monitoring of the Liquid Nitrogen plant.
• Monitoring and maintenance of water supply system in all NIMR - MMRC buildings.
• Participate in installation and commissioning of new machines in NIMR – MMRC.
• Carry out regular inspection to fire and smoke detection systems as well as emergence exits.
• Ensure custody and proper use of equipment, materials and spares.
• To ensure safety of man and equipment at all times
• Any other job that will be assigned to you by your superiors from time to time.
REQUIRED SKILLS/DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES/
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
• At least A Full Technician Certificate in Electrical
• Basic fitting mechanic skills
• At least 2 years experience in maintenance discipline.
• Practices safe working methods on electrical systems
