We are now hiring a project coordinator to work on our fabulous Moshi project! We're looking for someone who ideally has some experience working or volunteering in a developing country, preferably in the area of education/teaching or public health. We're looking for someone who is a team player, full of enthusiasm with funky new ideas
1. Duties and Responsibilities
Planning - to ensure people and projects are prepared in advance
-Work in partnership with the Project Managers/ Coordinators to understand the needs of the community and to ensure activities are right for the communities and for volunteers
-Help volunteers prepare for activities through the Induction and overseeing the first few days for all volunteers
-Guide and work with volunteers to plan, execute and review project activities
Doing - day to day project involvement and reporting
-Supervise volunteers by ensuring they know what to do, they are safe, they get work done and have fun!
-Work with Project Coordinators on the task list for afternoon activities e.g. so whoever is leading an afternoon activity know which jobs need to be done in advance and can communicate to volunteers
-Responsible for Project tools and equipment - i.e. having enough tools, working with other staff and builders to plan ahead to ensure we have the right equipment for projects
-Organise and communicate daily activities for volunteers based on the weekly schedule
-Assist with project inductions and getting volunteers settled into the activities
-Help answer volunteers questions and resolve any issues they have
-Help in organising and informing volunteers about local tours and trips
-Responsible for quality control of volunteer meals and living conditions
-Arrange transport to get volunteers to projects and occasional airport collections
-Be a role model for the volunteers in all of your actions and behaviours at all times
-Responsible for loading content onto our Facebook page and creating content for the page such as videos and blog posts
Reviewing - continuous improvement of project
-Gather feedback from volunteers, ensure you speak to every volunteer in their final week and describe the importance of giving feedback
-Work with Project Managers to improve projects and respond to feedback from volunteers
-Ensure each volunteer completes a Feedback Form before they leave project
-Writing reports concerning weekly project activities, achievements and concerns
-Responding to emails from head office staff, volunteers and project partners
The successful candidate will have:
-Strong interpersonal skills so that you can effectively communicate information to volunteers and resolve volunteer issues in a timely, competent and effective manner
-Be organized –There's a lot going on in our projects and our volunteers are busy folks and you need to stay a few steps ahead of them
-Language – English as a first language or fluently spoken (Kiswahili is an advantage)
-Attitude – a mature and positive 'can-do' attitude , commitment to working hard, ability to motivate others, good at working under pressure, an expert multi-tasker and the ability to communicate with people from all over the world with flexibility and patience
