This is a critical role for the success of the MSN International BI/CI team as a whole and MSN International team in general. We are looking for a very experienced web/data analyst, a trusted business advisor to work with the Media teams partnering effectively with Corp BI/CI, Business Planning, Engineering, Product Management and Marketing teams. This role is responsible for monthly KPI reporting based on internal systems, setting all site analytics, monitor data accuracy and take actions where necessary. The successful candidate is also required to perform deep dives on broader strategic topics related to product management & business performance and make recommendations based on his/her findings. Strategic thinking ability is a must.
The role has a broad remit; the first one is to maintain the monthly KPI reporting using the data cubes and internal systems and monitor the business performance. The successful candidate will work closely with the content and sales teams and flag any business risks and follow the correction of errors on an on-going basis.
The second aspect of the role is to oversee the individual features and functionality on the Web sites to ensure a consistent approach to site analytics. The expectation is that this person will not only provide the data but help make decisions based on the data. It will be critical that the individual has the ability to form opinions and make recommendations based on the day to day and long term trends to stakeholders across the Online Advertising Business Group (MSN, Windows Live, and Search).
The role will also work with the Business Intelligence (BI) group to validate methodologies and analysis and to maintain the accuracy and reliability of the internal and external tools like Cosmos, Omniture and Comscore.
Key Accountabilities
Omniture & internal web analytics tools. Be the expert and drive their use throughout the site to build reporting against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and build knowledge of customer behaviors throughout the site and be able to make recommendations based on analysis.
Where applicable the build & maintenance (or provisioning) of local tools to automate reporting and business management cycles.
Monthly reporting: Overall responsibility for reporting all of the Portal team major KPIs including Reach, PV/UU (page views and Unique Users), - by Homepage (HP) and channel, editorial click through, channel homepage click through, and all search statistics.
Forecasting. Based on historic MSN trends, the wider market place, and future product release plans build PV/UU, UU and TOL forecasts for MSN’s major channels and HP.
Trend analysis. Identify and interpret trends and changes in customer behavior across the portal and make strategic recommendations to Planning and Channel managers
Make strategic recommendations based upon data analysis and influence portal product decision makers.
Provide strategic input and insight into the portal planning process for the international portals.
Market analysis: In conjunction with the Research teams, report on wider industry trends, such as mobile device growth, and put this in the context of our own Portal content objectives and growth.
Audience identification. Working with the Corp BI/CI teams, develop deep understanding of the distribution of our audience and demographic groups across the portal, and be able to make strategic recommendations on new audience development.
With sales, understanding revenue Yield throughout the portal, and identifying opportunities to increase our yield.
Customer Delivery Plan. Report the MSN entry point click universe and tracking of click allocation to User Interest and Commercial partnerships.

Essential:
Strong experience of web analytics
Excellent experience of total experience probably within a market research, strategy, finance background or Business Information reporting role.
High level of Omniture skills / experience
Familiarity with Comscore and NNR methodologies
A high degree of technical competence with Excel Macros and MS Access or SQL.
Analytical mind that thrives on data.
An ability to manage numerous business owners and stakeholders as priorities shift on the fly.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Desirable:
Broad understanding of the Microsoft product and technology sets together with a desire to know more.
Degree in Statistics/ Mathematics/Engineering
