The GIS Analyst will be responsible for providing leadership in GIS mapping and spatial database development at scale. S/he will ensure timely and efficient utilization of GIS and remote sensing applications in furtherance of project objectives.

Specific Roles And Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership in the mapping and coordination activities including the use of existing data and the collection, storage, analysis and presentation of new geographical information;
- Support preparation of simple user-driven interfaces and decision-support tools for selected agencies;
- Supporting identification of data requirements to support WASH planning, protected area system and spatial planning;
- Validation of data (GIS imageries, maps, spreadsheets, reports, tables) sources from providers;
- Collated data formatted to ensure integration into the WASH-related databases of the Government of Kenya and other critical partners;
- Identification of GIS hardware, software and networking infrastructure needs for the program and development of internet-based applications for presenting the analysed GIS datasets;
- Establishing data access and data maintenance protocols;
- Working with all partners ensuring cross coordination of mapping activities and harmonization of information;
- Building the capacity of communities to map their own resources.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing, managing and implementing projects, including partnering with like-minded organizations on the definition of objectives and deliverables and monitoring and evaluation of results.
- S/he will have a strong record of progressive responsibility and a demonstrated record of service.
- A minimum of 5 years professional GIS experience, of which at least 2 years must be in the field of planning and establishment of GIS for local/regional authorities and ministries;
- Knowledge of governing institutions and practices and demonstrated capacity to approach them creatively and promote change;
- An appropriate post-graduate qualification and experience in one of the following disciplines and a working knowledge of a majority of the others: Natural Sciences/Environmental Science with a GIS specialization; Geographic Information Systems; Geography;
- Demonstrated ability to develop learning programs and deliver planned capacity building activities;
- Good mentorships skills and capacity to manage and develop a team in a participatory and capacity building manner;
- Conversant with GIS software (Erdas Imagine, ArcGIS core suite of software, ILWIS, MapInfo) and experience in spatial database management system (data storage, analysis and manipulation functionality); those with knowledge of ArcGIS mobile, HTML5, Android SDK or Adobe Flash Builder and their application to GIS database development will be preferred;
- Knowledge of Auto CAD and GPS equipment is required;
- Excellent communication and reporting skills;
- Fluency in English a must and local spoken language an advantage.
