The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking to appoint a new Director for its IMF Institute at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. The IMF is an organization of 187 countries working to foster global monetary cooperation and has a diverse staff of about 2,500 from over 150 countries.
The Director's responsibilities will include:
- Developing the Fund's capacity building strategy to promote the Fund's mandate and support the needs of member countries; directing the choice of target groups for capacity building ; and coordinating an effective learning program to share knowledge and build capacity among target groups.
- Scaling up structured learning approaches through the use of worldwide partnerships and appropriate technology such as distance learning to maximize the reach of IMF-sponsored training opportunities.
- Facilitating knowledge sharing through peer-to-peer networks and knowledge hubs, developing outreach opportunities.
- Acting as a single consolidated arm for all donor-relations with the IMF in the area of capacity building , leading the design and implementation of fundraising drives.
- Coordinating the IMF's TA policy development and implementation, promoting interâdepartmental cooperation, and providing effective liaison between departments, clients, and donors. Better integrating the IMF's TA and training activities in support of area department priorities.
- Developing and managing the IMF's internal economic and financial training curriculum for staff, in collaboration with HRD and client departments.
- Advising and reporting to management on all aspects of capacity building activities, including priorities, financing, and results/impact.
- Managing the staff in the Institute at headquarters and in other regional IMF training centers.
- Educated to PhD level, ideally in economics, together with significant experience in senior management roles in an economic institution or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of modern educational services for a global institution and the economic and financial capacity building needs in developing and emerging market economies.
- Skillful negotiation and diplomatic skills in dealing with country officials, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Proven ability to inspire, promote cooperation, and manage a large number of staff.
