Brief description: DFID is working to erode the terrible inequalities of opportunity that we see around the world today. This means tackling diverse challenges such as improving access to healthcare and education and helping to bring peace and stability to conflict affected states. To maximise our impact we are committed to getting best value for money from every pound of UK aid that we spend. We recognise and value the impact of best practice procurement and have an ambitious transformation agenda. We are making good progress – we’ve been short-listed for a CIPS Supplier Management Award - and are looking for talented people to join us and apply their strategic procurement skills in a truly global environment. These are challenging but rewarding roles, offering a real opportunity to make a meaningful difference. We have permanent vacancies and are also building a pool of procurement professionals that we can call on quickly and flexibly as our programme expands.
To increase DFID & PrG’s influence over indirect spend and improve VfM and results delivered via third parties by applying commercial thinking and techniques to the management of third party relationships. This individual is responsible for devising, developing and implementing strategies to assure and improve the procurement and commercial capability of key third parties and for identifying and leading the delivery of opportunities to significantly enhance value for money.
To be effective in this role will require either
- deep expertise in strategic sourcing in complex organisational environments though not necessarily international development or
- deep expertise in the influencing of key multi-lateral / CSO / recipient relationships in an international development context combined with a good level of general commercial awareness and an appetite to develop this.
