Background
Oxfam's purpose is to work with others to overcome poverty and suffering around the world and in Rwanda we focus on the promotion of sustainable livelihoods opportunities and women's empowerment through enterprise development in agriculture. We are currently recruiting for a fixed term Program Account within our team in Kigali as follows:
The Role
In this role, you will review program accounts and ensure that financial transactions are processed in the accounting system for each reporting period. You will perform audit checks on financial returns by partner organizations. Maintenance of accurate records of financial transactions will be critical for the role. You will monitor program expenditure against approved budgets. You will maintain close links with bankers while processing supplier and other payments. This role will require a good level of financial analysis as well as ensuring that all systems are operated effectively. You will provide support to partner organizations on all aspects of financial management.
The Person
To be successful in this role, you will have a wide range of experience preferably-with international NGOs, backed by a degree and/or an accountancy qualification from a recognized body. To effectively prepare and manage budgets, you will have demonstrable experience in handling significant budgets, coupled with knowledge and experience of donor financial requirements and donor contract management. A good understanding of financial and accounting systems, procedures and processes will be essential. You will have proven working knowledge of computerized accounting packages (preferably PEOPLESOFT) and advanced use of spreadsheets. You'll be adept at working across teams and able to support partner organizations on a range of financial matters. You will be self-driven, possess strong analytical skills as well as the ability to plan and work effectively under pressure and towards strict deadlines. Your ability to influence senior managers will also be an advantage.
