The successful candidate will be offered a Fixed Term Appointment for one year. Further extensions will be based on organizational needs, availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
Purpose of the Post Under the general supervision of the Supply/Logistics Specialist performs Logistics functions in support of programme and operations in south and central zone of Somalia.
Major duties and responsibilities
• Under the supervision/direction of the S&L Specialist L3, manage the logistics team. Participate in field-level planning formulation in the area of logistics and provide technical and operational support to the field office, as well as advice on application of logistics management best practice, systems and procedures and take initiative in management improvement for the logistic function.
• Ensure the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of new initiatives and procedures related to logistics.
• Manage SCZ supply inventories in order to permit the rapid movement of humanitarian supplies. Design and implement warehouse management and commodity tracking system
• Ensure timely transmission of logistics monitoring information, stock levels and distribution status to the logistics focal point at the national level and develop key performance indicators by which localized logistics contracts can be managed.
• Design, implement and manage contracts in forwarding, transport and warehousing, where necessary.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
• Completion of university education. Training in procurement, Logistics administration and Warehouse management.
• Five (5) years work experience in administrative capacity preferably in field related to Supply & Logistics.
• Ability to establish harmonious working relations in an international and multicultural environment.
• Good knowledge of computer skills, including various office applications.
• Knowledge of English language and the local working language of the duty station is a requirement.
