Job Title: Senior Manager – Church for Community Transformation
Reports to: Innovations and Strategic Partnerships Director
Location: Head Office
Purpose of the position:
To provide strategic leadership in the empowerment of church (and community) leadership for holistic community transformation through mobilization process and exploitation of locally available resources for sustainable transformational development within their communities
Observe mission and core values of World Vision and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.
Major Responsibilities:
- 1. Strategic Engagement
- Develop strategic partnership with key like-minded organizations to empowering the church (and community) leadership to exploit local resource for holistic transformational development
- Develop, review and update strategic plan, annual operating plan and budget
- Develop concept papers and proposals for Church for Community transformation
- 2. Empowering and mentoring leaders
- Strategize and implement plans for exposure visits of key strategic church (and community leaders) leaders to evidence-based locally resourced organizations such as Christian Impact Mission (CIM), Tearfund and others
- Execute strategies for empowering church (and community) leadership through biblical worldview modules in partnership with Samaritan Strategy Africa for the transformation of peoples’ mindset
- Build church’s capacity on children holistic child development and protection through different modules such as Celebrating Families
- Provide capacity building, trainings and mentorship to community leaders in partnership with successful community transformers
- 3. Mobilization, training, monitoring and reporting
- In partnership with CIM, mobilize community members to adopt different agricultural technologies, including rainwater harvesting, to increase productivity and profitability for the wellbeing of children
Facilitate the mobilization, training and support community members to form Commercial
- Producer Groups and Commercial Villages for market linkages
- Identify and support most productive individuals to establish model farms as learning sites
General Duties
- Facilitate documentation of learning and success for the projects
- Build a team of staff through effective communication and capacity building.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
- Minimum Qualification required: Masters in Social Sciences/Theology
- Experience: 10 years in community or church related work
- Technical Skills & Abilities:
- Computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability in supervision
- Working knowledge of proposal writing
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and donors
- Good understanding of and respect for diverse churches and Christian organization
Other Competencies/Attributes:
- Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
- Perform other duties as required
Working Environment / Conditions:
- Work environment: Office-based with regular travel to the field
- Travel: 20% Domestic travel is required.
- On call: 10%
