Responsible for sub-editing and copy-editing both hard copy and electronic documents, and managing the publications process of all offices of the ISS
The position will be based in the ISS office in Pretoria. The Language Editor and Publications Coordinator must have the ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision, possess the skills to multi-task, work in a team, have strong administrative skills and be well organised and procedural (in order to manage delivery schedules, designers, suppliers, procurement processes etc).
Requirements:
Degree (preferable) in Journalism, Communication Science, English or related field;
At least 10 years experience in language editing, preferably in a media environment;
Experience in publications management: coordination of delivery schedules, designers, typesetters and printers, suppliers, procurement;
Excellent command of English, working knowledge of French an advantage;
Excellent English grammar and proofreading skills;
Attention to detail and analytical ability.
This position requires travel to the ISS' regional offices in Dakar, Nairobi and Addis Ababa. The length of the contract will be for two years and will be renewable subject to future funding.
Salary: Internationally competitive salary offered.
Assumption of duties: As soon as possible.
