Biogeochemistry Laboratory Technician

Tanzania American international Development Corporation 2000 Limited (Tanzam 2000) with its sister companies of Tancan Mining Company Limited and Buckreef Gold Company limited is a minerals and metals exploration company.

Among its various projects, the companies operate three advanced projects which are scheduled for production in the next twenty four (24) months. Tanzam 2000 therefore invites suitable qualified Personnel to apply for the positions of Senior Geologist, Biogeochemistry field botanist, Biogeochemistry field technician and Biogeochemistry laboratory technician at its field office, located at BuckreefKatoro area in Geita Region.

Qualifications:

Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education (0 Level) or Its equivalent

A minimum of three months ‘work experience in the preparatory laboratory Qualified female applicants are highly encouraged

Skills:

Computer literacy for MS-Office packages especially word and excel

Duties and Responsibilities:

To be familiarised with TRE biogeochemical preparatory laboratory sample processing and safety techniques as stated in the TRE BGC Laboratory Protocol

To assist the BGC Data coordinator in receiving, registration and correct handling of the field samples including reporting of the field missing samples

To ensure the correct handling of the laboratory samples throughout all stages of sample processing as stated in the TRE BGC Preparatory Laboratory Protocol

To ensure contamination-free laboratory environment by strictly adhering to the operational cleanliness of the laboratory facility and laboratory equipment throughout all stages of sample preparation

To prepare the laboratory duplicate samples as directed by the BGC Data Coordinator To ensure correct labelling, recording and storage of the laboratory analytical, reserve and duplicate samples until when dispatched to the analytical laboratory in an approved manner

To ensure the proper and accurate filling of the laboratory daily log book

To ensure correct handling and safe keeping of all laboratory equipment and properties To ensure proper sample packaging before they are shipped to the analytical laboratory for chemical analysis

To assist the BGC data coordinator in supervision of the hired casual labourers To assist in the training of new recruits

To lock and secure the BGC preparatory laboratory whenever unoccupied

Reporting Procedures:

To report back to the BGC Data Coordinator on any changes/additions/modifications done on the field sample dispatch forms

To monitor laboratory supplies and notify the BGC data coordinator of impending shortages

To prepare end-of month laboratory statistics before handling them over to the BGC Data Coordinator

To report any misconduct carried out by company's employees that will endanger the safety of other employees and or company properties
