World Vision Project Director - Wheelchair Provision Global Program

World Vision is recruiting for a new Project Director to manage a multi-country wheelchair service development grant. The overall goal of the project is for people with disabilities in developing countries to have greater access to affordable and appropriate wheelchairs and services through 1) expanding the provision of wheelchairs; 2) providing training for wheelchair service personnel; and 3) fostering an enabling environment toward effective wheelchair service management and development. The project will be implemented in five countries and utilize at least ten sub-awards to qualified wheelchair providers. Please note that this position is contingent upon World Vision being awarded the grant.
The Project Director (PD) will have overall responsibility for the management of all project activities, staff, and relationship with the main partners and subpartners under this project. S/he will have principal responsibility for representing the project to the donor and the public. The PD will be responsible for overall project planning and activities, staff management, budget monitoring and resource management and quality reporting to donor. The PD shall have a keen understanding of wheelchair provision programming and familiarity with the countries were the project will be implemented, and ability to include partners, subpartners and other stakeholders. The PD should embrace the shared donor vision for the project and effectively manage available financial and human resources to make that vision a reality.
The PD is charged with leading a professional team in the accomplishment of the objectives and sub-objectives, in a complex developing country environment. S/he must have a broad vision linked with a clear understanding of how to get things done amid the constraints of each country context.
Additional responsibilities include:
• Direct and manage work efforts of team members on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that work adheres to quality standards and is achieved by project deadlines.
• Track project milestones and adjust project plans and/or resources to meet client needs.
• Oversee project budget, ensuring that expenses do not exceed agreed-upon budget.
• Evaluate project progress and results and report them to WVUS senior leadership, ensuring that changes to scope, budget, resources and risks are communicated in a timely way.
• Establish project management policies and procedures to improve project efficiency so that time, budget and resources are used wisely.
• Ensure that training occurs pertaining to the use of new or updated systems, policies, procedures, and/or best practices that result from the project.
• Participate in meetings with project managers to update each other on the status of projects under management and mentor other project managers to ensure they develop and apply the skills and knowledge necessary to meet client expectations.

Required Experience
• Master's degree required. Appropriate certifications may be required. Work experience in a complex NGO environment, preferably managing major projects and initiatives; 10-15 years.
