Background:
The International Rescue Committee
(IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to
survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 with Head quarters in New
York, the IRC operates in more than 40 countries worldwide, offering lifesaving
care and life-changing assistance to individuals/communities forced to flee
from war or disaster.
IRC seeks to recruit qualified,
energetic and committed candidates to fill the following position:
Position: Construction supervisor (1)
Location: Kigoma, Tanzania
Reporting to: Supply Chain Coordinator
Specific
duties:
1.
Responsible
for coordination of construction/maintenance activities in IRC Field Offices,
Work includes supervision of laborers, staff, monitoring of construction
supplies, ensuring job requisitions are completed and jobs certified.
2.
Prepare
BOQs and structural drawings for all
works requested advising on best options.
3.
In
collaboration with Supply Chain Assistant ensure BOQs and drawings pass
donor approval prior to activity implementation
4.
Prepare
and circulate weekly construction reports, sharing with
programs/requestor. Submit and follow up
on daily construction/maintenance reports.
5.
Keep
updated construction related files in a centrally located position so to ensure
that during handover and leave the relevant designate can have access to them.
6. Advise management on
preparation, signing, and implementation of all construction contracts.
7. Identify materials
needed for construction works; advice specifications of Construction tools.
Ensure that fair price is obtained for the best local quality materials.
8. Participate in
purchase of construction materials; ensure delivery is recorded in warehouse
records.
9. Keep inventory of
construction tools and update their usage, shifting, transfer
Requirements
·
Form VI certificate
with FTC or Diploma in Civil Engineering plus three years experience on the
relevant field.
·
Good English,
written and oral skills required.
