Background:

Project Description:
Land O’Lakes is currently preparing for an anticipated USAID-funded program in Tanzania that will address constraints to agricultural productivity through improving the business-enabling environment. It will build the capacity of the private sector to dialogue with policymakers and create a forum for effective public private partnerships. The program will also have an access to finance component under which it will provide technical assistance to both financial institutions and businesses.
Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities:
The Chief of Party will provide overall leadership and direction to support the project’s successful implementation. He/she will be responsible for the achievement of programmatic results and timely completion of all project deliverables.
- Manage and lead the technical, operational and administrative aspects of the program;
- Foster and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Tanzanian government officials and private sector representatives;
- Oversee the work of international and local project sub-awardees as well as project volunteers;
- Represent the project and Land O’Lakes to key stakeholders, including USAID;
- Oversee project finance, monitoring & evaluation, compliance and technical excellence; and
- Supervise project personnel.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business, agricultural economics, international development, public policy or related field, or bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus 15 years of relevant experience;
- At least 10 years of experience leading and managing donor-funded programs of similar scope and scale, particularly in the areas of enterprise development, agriculture, policy and/or finance in Tanzania or similar development context;
- Demonstrated experience working to create public-private sector partnerships;
- Proven experience managing large ($10M+), complex donor-funded programs;
- Track record of leadership and adaptive management; and
- Written and spoken fluency in English.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in policy reform; and
- Experience working in Tanzania.
