Implementation Research Study MUHAS and Johns Hopkins University Collaborative Project
Background
Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHU) and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) have been funded by USAID to collaboratively work on an Implementation Research Study focused on strengthening community-based programming in Tanzania. Specifically, the MUHAS-JHU team is providing research support to guide the MoHSW in the implementation of a national CHW cadre. To guide this process, the team is seeking to recruit a Research Scientist to be based at MUHAS in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Overall Responsibility
We are seeking a motivated public health researcher who is has extensive experience in qualitative and
quantitative research. The candidate will have two key roles within the team:
a.To act as a liaison between the Community Health WorkerTask Force/MoHSW and the MUHAS-JHU team.
The candidate will be expected to attend all associated Ministry meetings and engage in systematic reporting and documentation of processes and procedures.
b.To work closely with the MUHAS-JHU team to achieve assigned research goals (i.e., designing of data collection instruments, pilot-testing, data collection, analysis, and report writing). Further, the candidate must be willing and able to travel to various regions of Tanzania to complete various aspects of the project, as required.
Professional and Personal Requirements
The candidate must have completed their Masters training (i.e., MPH, MSc, MA, etc.) and have 3+ years of experience in public health research, report writing, and manuscript preparation for publication. Any graduate of the MUHAS Masters Program, with field research experience, is eligible to apply.
4. Contract and Remuneration .:
The successful candidate will be employed initially for one year, with possible extension. Competitive remuneration will be paid.
