Project Coordinator-Engineering
Responsibilities
The duties will include:
Provide effective management of procedures to ensure all drawings and related documentation is processed and actioned as appropriate;
Coordination between various disciplines ensuring that schedules are followed and monitored;
Research and compilation of relevant building product information;
Inspect project site and evaluate contractor work to detect design malfunctions and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable code, report on the progress and quality of work
Attends meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information
Observes testing required by contract documents for the purpose of recording and preparing reports
Monitors contractor construction schedules for the purpose of ensuring projects are completed within established timelines .'
Perform construction observation and inspection for the purpose of ensuring projects are completed within specifications and in compliance with local/state regulation
Prepares written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information'
Reviews a variety of documents and materials (e.g. contractor and subcontractor qualifications, change orders, contract documents, shop drawings, data, samples, post-bid documents)
Arrange for final inspection by a professional superior and ensures changes or corrections are completed as directed.
Inspect property as to repair/construction requirements and help develop Facilities
Management Manual
Complete or assists in costs estimates and all required documentation estimating costs for materials, labour, equipment and overheads for use in bids for tenders
working with suppliers to negotiate to buy materials, equipment and labour at the most cost-effective prices and ensuring the quality of suppliers .
helping to plan which methods to use for each construction stage; drafting
construction plans end blueprints using computer aided design (CAD) software
monitoring building progress against agreed completion dates
support preparation of construction sites for site setup works to facilitate contractors
Provide coordination and supervision of teams of building contractors on site
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should:
An engineering degree or comparable technical training is needed for this position,
A minimum of three years' experience in the construction industry is desirable.
Knowledge of engineering disciplines like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.
Understand and execute oral and written instructions' and to interpret building
construction plans and -specifications.
Maintain cost and other-records and to prepare reports of work accomplished.
Judge the quality of workmanship in the building trades.
Ability to read drawings
Advanced PC user (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Explorer)
Knowledge of and ability to develop Project Management software skills, AutoCad
Knowledge in use of spreadsheets, database, word processing and selected jOD specific software
Ability to keep clear and accurate records and reports. _
Methodically organize work load and to manage filing methods and management techniques - both on computer and physical and timely retrieval of information
Knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment employed in the building construction trades
Knowledge of the Tanzanian Building Code and other regulations and requirements applicable to work assignments
