AKU-TIHE invites applications for the following position, based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: -
The HR Officer will work closely with the Manager, Human Resources - TIHE to ensure that HR functional support is provided to all entities of AKU- TIHE in Tanzania. Other duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:
The responsibilities being;
Manage the recruitment for vacant positions and ensure that all hiring is in accordance with budget & institutional guidelines;
Address employee grievances and resolve routine disciplinary cases in accordance with applicable labour laws and AKU - TIHE policies;
Collate training needs from Performance appraisal forms and training requests received from departments or employees.
Deliver soft skills trainings.
Maintain the HRIS for all AKU-TIHE employees and ensure that all personnel records are updated. Manage the move to HRIS when University implements the computerized system
Assist in the periodic review of HR policies in the region
Implement country specific HR policies in the areas of recruitment, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations and - training and development
Ensure HR activities are in line with organizational requirements for quality, health and safety, legal requirements and environmental policies.
Identify and advise on legal requirements and laws affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
Serve as an employee advocate and advisor on HR policy, making appropriate recommendations to the Entity Heads in consultation with the
Manager, Human Resources -TIHE.
In liaison with the Manager Human Resources, coordinate the performance appraisal, promotions and salary increment processes. .
Administer benefit programs such as insurance, medical cover, NSSF, leaves etc
Maintain employee files including attendance, leave records, etc.
In liaison with the Manager HR, manage employee relations programmes to foster an enabling and positive work environment;
In consultation with the- Manager HR - advise Entity Heads/supervisors on disciplinary issues.
Any other responsibilities as assigned by supervision
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree -in Human Resources or in Business Administration or equivalent with Advanced Diploma in HR
3 years of relevant work experience.
Excellent verbal, written communication skills in English
Excellent computer skills
Excellent knowledge of the Tanzanian labour laws
Excellent negotiation skills
Proficiency in both English Kiswahili
Excellent time management skills & ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
