Job Title: NOC Engineer

Report To: Operations and Maintenance Manager

Objectives:
To ensure availability and continuous improvement of Quality of Services by providing continuous network and service monitoring, fault management including reporting and escalation, and timely resolutions of incidents and faults.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work in the NOC on a 24/7 shift schedules, provide continuous monitoring of network and services, and undertake initial troubleshooting and rectifications.
2. Proactively initiate incident management process and generate action plans to resolve incidents/faults.
3. Register, analyze, and resolve incidents by performing root cause analysis and implementing changes to rectify incidents/faults.
4. Issue/close trouble tickets, follow-through and manage the escalations.
5. Coordinate operational activities with field engineers/technicians, service providers, equipment vendors, and customers through SLA procedures.
6. Provide support to field engineers and technicians on operation and maintenance activities.
7. Provide 24/7 service support to customers.
8. Provide shift reports aligned to set network and service KPIs.
9. Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by management.
Key Qualifications / Experience / Skills:
1. Bachelor degree or equivalent level in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical, Information Technology or Data Communications Engineering.
2. Minimum of two (2) years working experience in telecommunications industry or excellent pass grade from the University/College.
3. Good understanding of Telecommunications or ISP network architecture.
4. Good understanding of Network Management Systems (NMS) and Operation Support Systems (OSS).
5. Excellent knowledge in at least one of the following domains:
a. Core Network: IMS/NGN, CS Core, PS Core, PSTN
b. Transport Network: DWDM/OTN, IP/MPLS, Microwave (SDH)
c. Access Network: Metro Ethernet network, GPON, DSL, POTS, Microwave network, 2G, 3G, 4G RAN
6. Experience with Telecommunications Operations and Maintenance support.
7. Team player, customer oriented and effective time manager
8. Ability to flexibly work on irregular hours (night shifts) and/or overtime
9. Ability to work under high operational pressure/stress
10. Analytical and problem/incident resolution skills
11. Good communicator (fluency in English/Swahili languages - verbal and written)
12. Discipline on process adherence and reporting
