Innovation and Learning Coordinator, People Engagement Programme

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 100 National Chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
Background information
Over the last decade, the TI movement has undertaken ground-breaking work in providing support to victims and witnesses of corruption. Action taken at country level ranges from provision of legal advice, working with investigative journalists and, in some cases, litigation. This work has not only helped many tens of thousands of people, communities and interest groups throughout the world to stand up to and resist corruption, but has also played – and continues to play – a central part in moving TI in the direction of increased work around focus on tackling impunity for corruption. Currently, about 65 TI National Chapters undertake work in this area.
Now, the Peoples Engagement Programme is focussing on supporting the TI movement in the development of the next generation of its support to victims and witnesses of corruption, case work and case resolution. This will include further deepening of expertise and expanding, as funding allows.
To strengthen to support people to pursue their corruption-related grievances, the Peoples Engagement Programme will promote the uptake of civic actions for the resolution of corruption cases. Thereby, the programme will directly support the movement’s aim for a strong voice to end impunity for the corrupt. A core group for a strong voice to enforce justice around cases of corruption and to end impunity is young people. They represent the future of the societies they live in and are crucial to the anti-corruption movement. A further key pillar of more effective case work by the Transparency International movement is the utilisation of technology for reporting corruption cases and of data for advocacy.
In this context, the Innovation and Learning Coordinator will have an important role in working with National Chapters in developing innovative approaches and knowledge sharing and disseminating learning within the TI Movement as to successful actions and strategies to pursue.
Main function: Driving innovation, knowledge sharing and learning around engaging people, with a particular emphasis on promoting case-based work to fight corruption

Responsibilities
The Learning and Innovation Coordinator drives relevant knowledge sharing and innovation across Transparency International in its work to support victims and witnesses of corruption to pursue their corruption-related grievances and to reduce impunity for acts of corruption.
Specifically, the Innovation and Learning Coordinator will:
  • Develop and promote systems supporting innovation in National Chapters within the programme area
  • Identify, promote and facilitate the scaling-up of proven approaches, proven performance and innovation throughout the TI Movement in the programme work areas, including the production and use of tools, facilitating workshops, training materials/modules, communication packages, manuals, etc.
  • Ensure technical and conceptual coherence in the development and implementation of consistent and integrated approaches
  • Support Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
  • Support the development and roll-out of collective actions (e.g. advocacy, campaigns) around Programme work areas
  • Support and/or lead the development of Programme-wide funding applications
  • Represent the Programme in relevant external fora, as required
  • Any other tasks identified by the line manager necessary to ensure that the people engagement tasks are implemented successfully
Knowledge, experience and skills
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate degree or professional qualification in relevant Programme technical areas
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with an International NGO or International Organisation, or Multinational Organisation with a demonstrated in-depth knowledge and experience in Programme work areas
  • Strong corruption case work knowledge or civic action related expertise
  • Knowledge of, or considerable interest in, the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption; solid understanding of and experience in the area of whistleblowing are a distinct advantage
  • Demonstrated experience in knowledge sharing and learning approaches
  • Proven advocacy experience
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of any other European language would be an advantage
  • Highly developed team work and intercultural communication skills
  • Willingness to travel
