RADIO PROGRAMMES
MANAGER
Background
Our client is a new Radio Station based in Njombe region .
Njombe is an agriculturally rich region and has
a population of more than 1.6m people according to the 2012 Tanzania
Population Census.
Tasks
i.
Responsible to the Directors, the Radio
Programmes Manager shall be overall in charge of the station in charge of
programming & programming staff at the station.
ii.
The Radio Programme Manager shall Check completed program logs for accuracy and
conformance with TCRA rules and
regulations, and resolve program log inaccuracies.
2) Confer with Directors and production staff to discuss issues such as production and casting problems, budgets, policies, and news coverage.
3) Coordinate activities between departments, such as news and programming.

Knowledge and experience as a presenter/producer
6) Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in broadcast news, sports, or programming. Establish work schedules and assign work to staff members.
8) Evaluate new and existing programming for suitability and in order to assess the need for changes, using information such as audience surveys and feedback.
9) Monitor and review programming in order to ensure that schedules are met, guidelines are adhered to, and performances are of adequate quality. Monitor network transmissions for advisories concerning daily program schedules, program content, special feeds, and/or program changes.
11) Perform personnel duties such as recommend staff for hiring staff and evaluating work performance.
12) Plan and schedule programming and event coverage based on broadcast length, time availability, and other factors such as community needs, ratings data, and viewer demographics.
13) Act as a liaison between talent and directors, providing information that performers/guests need to prepare for appearances, and communicating relevant information from guests, performers, or staff to directors.
14) Conduct interviews for broadcasts.
15) Develop budgets for programming and broadcasting activities, and monitor expenditures to ensure that they remain within budgetary limits.
16) Develop ideas for programs and features that a station could produce.
17) Operate and maintain on-air and production audio equipment. i.e cool edit, adobe edition, radio man
18) Prepare copy and edit tape so that material is ready for broadcasting.
19) Read news, read and/or record public service and promotional announcements, and otherwise participate as a member of an on-air shift as required.
20) Review information about programs and schedules in order to ensure accuracy and provide such information to local media outlets as necessary.
21) Select, acquire, and maintain programs, music, films, and other needed materials, and obtain legal clearances for their use as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
The Radio Programmes Manager is a
senior management job. The candidate is expected to have the following
qualifications:
1) A
minimum of 7 years experience as a Radio Producer in a reputable Station with
responsibility for programmes production , interviews and presentation.
2) Knowledge
of cool edit, Radio Man and other radio studio suite software plus excel, word
and other Microsoft office suite software.
3) A
Degree or Diploma in Mass Communications . Diploma holders with 7 years proven
experience are welcome to apply.
4) Professional
qualifications in Mass Communications/ Journalism or Radio Production.
5) Three
referees two who must be able to vouch for your professional abilities.
6) Demonstrable
experience managing teams.
7) Good
voice presentation skills & ability to guide, train and mentor production
staff.
