Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre (TFNC) is
a Government Institution under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The
Centre is responsible for spearheading nutrition activities in the country with
the objective of controlling and reducing all forms of malnutrition.

12.1.1
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
·
Providing
leadership in coordination of nutrition actions in the country.
·
Guiding
integration of nutrition into other sectoral policies, strategies and plans.
·
Administration of the Institution in
accordance with the policy laid down by the Governing Board.
·
Advising
the Governing Board on technical and policy matters related to Nutrition.
·
Implementing
various directives and decisions given by the Board.
·
Overseeing the formulation, implementation,
monitoring and evaluation of short, medium and long term plans and programmes
of the Institution in line with the goals and objectives stipulated in the Act
establishing the Institution.
·
Overseeing
efficient management and smooth operation of the institution.
·
Coordinating collaboration with national and
international institutions in matters related to Nutrition.
12.1.2
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE.
·
Postgraduate Degree either in Human
Nutrition, Public Health, Economics or Public administration.
·
Should have a work experience of not less
than 8 years in management and administration, with at least 5 years in senior
managerial position in a reputable organization, with a proven record of good
performance.
·
Knowledge and practical experience in
administration of public service, Public Finance and Public Procurement Laws
and Regulations.
·
Computer
proficiency is an added advantage.
12.1.3
REMUNERATION.

12.2
DIRECTOR OF FOOD SCIENCE AND NUTRITION – 1 POSTS
12.2.1 DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·
Responsible to the Managing Director on
matters concerning Food Science and Nutrition;
·
Supervise
preparation of plan of action and budgets for the directorate;
·
Supervise designing and development of
appropriate food processing and preservation technologies at the Centre
·
Promote collaboration in research relating to
food processing, preservation and product development with National and
International organizations;
·
Promote
commercialization of relevant technologies relating to
·
Food
processing preservation and product development;
·
Provide
consultancy services in field of competence;
·
Conduct
in service training for in house and other service providers;
·
Undertake
training in higher learning institutions;
·
Perform
any other duties assigned by the Managing Director
12.2.2
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
·
PhD
in Food Science/Food-Technology/Food Chemistry/Microbiology/Biochemistry.
·
He/She should have research work experience
of not less than five (5) years in Food Science or Nutrition and at least five
(4) publications.
12.2.3 REMUNERATION
Salary Scale: PRSS 8.1
12.3 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTANT I - 1 POST
12.3.1
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in valuation of fixed and movable
assets of the Centre;

Establish
accounting codes;
Participate
in project financial analysis and preparation of
·
management accounting information;
·
Assist
in determining the financial requirements of the centre;
·
Conduct
in service training in appropriate fields of competence;
·
Prepare
centre’s budgets;
·
Participate

PRINCIPAL RESEARCH OFFICER II FOOD
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY - 2 POSTS

Holder
of PhD in Natural, Social or Engineering Sciences from a recognized
institution.
·
He/She should have research work experience
of not less than two (2) years and at least three (3) publications after
attaining PhD.
12.4.3 REMUNERATION

SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICER – SOCIOLOGY I – 1 POST
·
Participate
in designing social anthropological approaches to nutrition
·
Research
and interventions;

Participate
in data collection, analysis and interpretation;

in preparation of project progress reports;

Conduct
in-service training for in-house and other service providers;
·
Identify
and analyze sociological problems related to nutrition;

Participate
in developing research proposals;

Master’s Degree in Sociology from a
recognized institution with at least six (6) years of research work experience
in a reputable organization and at least three (3) publications after attaining
Masters Degree. OR

Master’s Degree with eight (8) years research
work experience and four (4) publications after Masters Degree.

work experience and four (4) publications after Masters Degree.
