THE DANISH EMBASSY IN TANZANIA IS LOOKING FOR THREE INTERNS FROM END JULY 2014
The Embassy of Denmark in Dar es Salaam is the focal point in the partnership between Tanzania and Den-mark. Tanzania is one of Denmark’s largest programme countries and the Danish aid to Tanzania covers a vari-ety of areas.
In the fall semester 2014 three interns will be recruited with in the following three areas; Public Diploma-cy/Communication/Governance; the Health Sector; and Macroeconomic analysis/Private Sector development.
An internship at the Danish embassy will challenge you, help you to apply your technical skills in practice and further develop your competencies in your field of study. And you will be given the opportunity to live in Dar es Salaam, guaranteeing experiences of African culture and a rich social life. Provided the internship can be ac-credited as part of your continued education, you will receive supervision and professional feedback for possible mandatory assignments. This however is not a requirement to apply for an internship.
GOVERNANCE AND PUBLIC DIPLOMACY
If you are interested in working with public diplomacy/communication and good governance, an internship at the Embassy of Denmark in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, could be of interest to you.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in communication, journalism, media studies, political science, international relations, development studies or similar
- Strong communications skills
- Knowledge of and preferable experience with international development issues
- Excellent qualifications in English and Danish written and oral
- Strong interpersonal skills (dynamic, outgoing and good cooperation skills)
As a Communication and Good Governance intern you will take active part in the daily work at the Embassy across all sectors. Your primary tasks will be to:
Public Diplomacy/Communication:
- Supply Danish media with stories about Tanzania, the impact of Danish development assistance, busi-ness opportunities etc.
- Supply Tanzanian media with stories about Denmark, Danish development assistance and broader po-litical issues of relevance to the Danish-Tanzanian relations.
- Update and maintain the Embassy’s webpage and Facebook profile including producing news stories
- Produce a monthly newsletter from the Embassy to Danes in or with interest in Tanzania
- Assist the embassy with general communication and cultural assignments
Good Governance:
- Assist the Governance team at the Embassy in key policy areas, including preparation of elections, strengthening civil society, media, gender equality, anti-corruption and the legal sector
- Participate in dialogue with different partners and stakeholder incl. government, civil society organisa-tions and other development partners
- Monitor, analyse and report on the current political and development situation in Tanzania
- Contribute to the preparation, implementation and financial follow-up to good governance programmes in Tanzania

TERMS OF INTERNSHIP
The intern must hold a Danish citizenship and be enrolled at an institution of higher education. The internships will begin 31 July 2014 and last 6 months. The internships are unpaid, but the Embassy provides a monthly supplement of DKK 3,000 to partly cover the cost of living. The current interns will try to assist in finding ac-commodation.
