Main responsibilities: To facilitate availability of reliable and evidence-based information on education through media that advocates for change and stimulates debate.
Responsibilities: (a) Prepare an effective Media advocacy and communication strategy for HakiElimu and monitor its implementation to ensure it advances the Organization’s work. (b)Manage the preparation of weekly, quarterly and annual work plans and budgets as well as reports of the Unit. (c) Prepare and supervise effective implementation of the Unit’s contracts. (d) Coordinate production of Communication materials to see that messages are integrated and consistence; in line with HakiElimu’s vision and core values; and meet professional standards and expectations of HakiElimu. (e) Cultivate and maintain favourable professional relations with media agencies, editors and organizations that are advocating for press freedom and freedom of expression.
Key Competencies: (a) Masters in Communication and Information Studies, Development Communication, or Communication Management is essential. (b) At least five years experience in Communication and Advocacy work at a fairly senior level. (c) Outstanding experience of using Media and/or Communication for Social change (d) Experience in preparing advocacy and communication strategies and monitoring is highly desirable. (e) Experience in working with education related media, , civil society organisations or NGOs will be an added advantage. (f) Must have a proven research track record. The applicant will be required to submit copies at least 3 of his/her research reports..
