SENIOR RECOVERY MANAGER
Reporting to the Head Credit Support Unit, this position will be responsible for reducing non performing retail loans and overdrafts through, direct recovery, restructuring and upgrades.
Key responsibilities
- Formulate recovery strategies for non performing Retail, SME & Special Schemes (RSS) loans.
- People Issues- [mentor, motivate and coach members of my team (direct reports)].
- Exercise discretion relating to management of NPL RSS loans.
- Drive the reduction of non-performing Retail loans through recovery, upgrade or restructures.
- Liaising with and tracking performance of Service providers [lawyers, auctioneers, valuers, investigators].
- Cost Management through vetting service provider fees, as well as optimal utilization of resources under their control.
- Manage provisions within the unit’s budget.
- Supporting branches in minimizing incidences of default.
- Demand and follow up of Non Performing Debts through review of files and discussions with debtors regarding their repayment proposals.
- Correspondence with branches, debtors and service providers.
- Report compilation (tracking repayments under the Transformation Initiative).
- Decisions on various loans, as presented on Credit Quest System.
The person
- University degree preferably in business related field. Professional qualification i.e. CPA, ACCA, ACIB will be an added advantage.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Commercial Banking/Financial Services out of which 3 must be in Debt Recovery
- Knowledge of credit and none performing debts policies and other regulatory requirements eg CBK prudential guidelines among others.
- Knowledge of basic law relating to debt recovery.
- Must have attended advanced credit course.
- Possess good knowledge of securities and legal issues relating to lending.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
- Strong organization and Leadership skills
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Strong analytical skills
