Garage Manager at Sao Hill Industries - Tanzania

The selected candidate will manage the maintenance of the company’s large fleet of heavy plant and forestry vehicles, transportation trucks, commercial light weight vehicles and company cars. Reporting to the General Manager. A summary of the duties are:

 Devise a cost efficient maintenance programme, reducing wastage and damage to parts and vehicles
 Build an effective team, coaching to improve skills of existing small team of up to 15 employees
 Create a secure storage system, reducing loss and improving stock management to prevent incorrect
    ordering
 Develop relationships with suppliers and actively seek new suppliers to improve delivery of spair parts
    and consumables
 Proactively service and maintain vehicles requiring repair or replacement parts
 Produce financial management reports
 Establish and upgrade preventive maintenance by educating drivers
 Sourcing spare parts, lubricants and tools from reliable and cost effective sources
 Approving local purchase orders and controlling quality of items arriving
 Taking full cost control responsibilities for the department
 Develop professional relationships with suppliers of tires, spares etc.
 Developing costing analysis reports per vehicle for management

The position is based at Sao Hill Industries, Mafinga, Iringa, Tanzania.

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate shall have:

 At least 5 years’ experience of managing a commercial fleet – preferably including heavy plant
 Excellent financial reporting
 Negotiation and interpersonal skills
 Education in the field of mechanical maintenance or engineering
 Worked in a health & safety focused environment
 Good English and computer skills
 Readiness to travel, learn and develop
