The selected candidate will operate harvesters, educate new operators and improve, manage and maintain the company’s forest harvesting machinery, reporting to the Harvesting Manager. This is a fieldbased role. A summary of the duties are:
Responsible for daily felling target
Day to day operation of harvester/feller buncher
Day to day reporting on productivity
Day to day care of mechanical condition of all equipment
Educating new operators for harvester
Performing simple maintenance tasks in forest
Following up to ensure that maintenance schedules are followed
Looking after work logistical set-up in day to day operations.
Looking after maintenance equipment in field and stock keeping The position is based at Sao Hill Industries operations, Mafinga, Iringa, Tanzania.
Desired Skills and Experience
The successful candidate shall have:
Work experience with manual and mechanised harvesting systems
Ability to work independently and remotely
Readiness to spend at least 90% of time in field
Understand equipment capabilities
Negotiation and interpersonal skills
Education in the field of forestry is an advantage
Worked in a health & safety focused environment
Good English and computer skills
Readiness to travel, learn and develop
