CREDIT ANALYST- CONSUMER CREDIT UNIT
Reporting to the Head of Consumer Credit, this position will be responsible for analyzing and approving consumer loan applications to support the growth of the retail asset book in a sustainable way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and make prudent credit decisions on facility applications within the delegated lending limits and convey such decisions to branches in a timely manner.
- Analyze and make recommendations to the Head of Consumer Credit on credit facility applications above delegated lending limits.
- Support development, recommendation and implementation of strategies and policies to ensure sound lending.
- Provide coaching /guidance/training on aspects of credit including policy and procedures, as may be required by branch staff and other staff involved the credit granting process.
- Provide technical input in development of new or repackaged credit products.
- Conduct Quality checks to ensure branches follow the bank’s policy, CBK prudential guidelines and best practice in appraisal, approval and management of facilities.
- Handle customer complaints on credit matters effectively.
- Follow up to ensure compliance with the conditions of approval of facilities. Ensure end-to-end TAT and migration of loan book to NPL is within the Bank’s targets.
- Facilitate collating and review check off loan schemes.
- Ensure maintenance of a healthy partnership with business units and compliance with agreed service level agreement.
The Person
For the above position, the successful applicants should have:
- Business related degree from a recognized institution.
- Professional qualifications such as ACIB/AKIB, CPA (K), ACCA or a post graduate qualification (MBA) will be an added advantage
- Experience in credit applications packaging for at least 5 years, Credit risk analysis and evaluation and interpretation of financial statements.
- Previous diligent utilization of a lending discretionary limit will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of CBK prudential guidelines and KCB lending policy.
- Must have attended advanced credit courses.
- Possess good knowledge of securities and legal issues relating to lending.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Proficient in IT and usage of CQ and T24 systems
- Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
- Have good interpersonal skills.
