Purpose:

• Within the corporate IT guidelines, lead and manage all Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Systems, ICT Infrastructure, Corporate connectivity, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity conforming to Information Security Policies including ICT staff capacity in the office to ensure that all UNICEF staff are capable of using ICT resources with access to the right information at the right time.

• Manage the IT/Telecommunications function of the Country Office and all sub-offices in support of UNICEF country programmes.

Qualification:

Advanced university degree in information management, with specialized training in computer science, information systems and/or Telecommunications, as below*: i. Specialized training in information system technology, information system concepts and processes, and organizational functions and general management. Postgraduate training in: information systems principles, database management systems, structured systems analysis and design; information systems project management; information system planning and policy; operating systems; client/server applications and environment. Or ii. Specialized training in telecommunications technology, management and policy with up-to-date coverage of the issues and trends. Postgraduate training in: management information systems; advanced programming; data communications and network, computer networking, telecommunications management, telecommunications policy and environment; distributed information systems; information security and control. Six to Eight years progressively responsible professional work experience in information management with increasing management-related content at national and international levels. Experience in planning and/or supporting the physical technical environment necessary for a field office to function. Fluency in English and another UN working language.

*A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Key Expected Results:

Manage Country Office ICT functions. Prepare ICT workplan and budget, including implementation of the plans, ensuring:- • All ICT infrastructure components are fully supported, upgraded and managed. • All Communications systems comply with MOSS requirements. • Availability of all Business Applications ie. ProMs, Notes, Cognos etc. with a properly monitored disaster recovery and business continuity plan. • Supervise upgrading of hardware, software to commensurate With ICT staff skills as per ITD guidelines. Supervise ICT staff in Country Office. • ICT Staff skills development and training.
Conceptualize, plan and coordinate ICT initiatives within the framework of the Country Office and sub- offices work plans, including:- • ICT infrastructure and Data Centers Management/Upgrade. • Connectivity and Communications Networks. • Standards and Information Security Policies. • Upgrade and Roll-out Management of Applications • ProMS/Cognos/Notes and other MI System Support. • Internet/Intranet strategy for Business Support. • Local and Global “Help Desk” Management • UN Inter-Agency ICT Initiatives on common connectivity and MOSS preparedness.
Monitor and prepare analytical reports for CMT on: • Business Continuity and Progress on above. • ICT capacity in each office/section. • Opportunities for cost sharing between sub-offices and/or UN Agencies in ICT undertakings. • Availability of ICT resources (training, procurement source, consultants etc.) • Identify ICT/MIS needs that are not properly addressed within existing initiatives or by ITD standards. • Provide feedback on service delivery from ITD NYHQ. • Information Security Policies. • Strategic ICT plans that would impact business processes.
Actively participate in the One UN ICT working groups.
Manage ICT Help Desk Support and Service Delivery. • Establish and manage an office ICT Group • Organize ICT/MIS training for staff. • Establish and manage Global and Local ICT Help Desk. • Work with ICT members to identify areas where changes are required to ICT/Information Management policies, guidelines and standards, • Communicate recommendations through Regional Office to ITD.
Local MIS System Support
• Work with CMT members, to identify Information Management /ICT needs and advise on the appropriate technology and solutions. • Without duplicating, design oversight management systems to address specific Country Office needs with corresponding approval from RO. • Work with Information and Communication staff to facilitate their use of Internet/Intranet in their advocacy/communication work.

Summary of Position The Country Director-Tanzania will manage and implement a new, multi-faceted conflict transformation programme in the country that will utilise media and educational programmes to promote non-violent solutions to conflict. III. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position fall into four broad categories: Fundraising, Operations, Leadership (people and strategy) and Administration.
Leadership
Regularly develop and adapt the country strategic vision and direction and execute it in keeping with TechnoServe's overall strategic plan;

Fundraising

A minimum of 2 years experience leading a business unit or large-scale project with responsibility for all aspects of operations
A minimum of 5 years experience working in a developing country, preferably in east or southern Africa.
Demonstrated ability to form, motivate and lead a diverse team to achieve results

Research Facilitator (Science Officer) Pro-Poor Climate Change Mitigation
The CGIAR Research Program, Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS,http://www.ccafs.cgiar.org) is a major collaborative endeavour between the international agricultural (CGIAR) and global environmental change (ESSP) research communities, and their respective partners. CCAFS seeks to overcome the threats posed by a changing climate to achieving food security, enhancing livelihoods and improving environmental management in the developing world. Launched in 2009, the 10-year program's current geographical focus is East Africa, West Africa and South Asia.

The Research Facilitator (Science Officer) will support and coordinate research activities of the CCAFS theme on Pro-Poor Climate Change Mitigation. The program's research on mitigation aims to improve farmers' livelihoods and meet future food needs in ways that also reduce the impact of agriculture on the climate and are environmentally sustainable. The Science Officer will work closely with the Theme Leader and other members of the CCAFS management team.

Primary responsibilities
To manage, synthesize and report information on Theme 3 budget, program and partners. Liaise with partners and administrative staff at ICRAF, CIAT and Copenhagen University as needed. (50%)
To facilitate partner development and backstop regional research. Contribute to strategic research within Theme 3 within own areas of expertise. (30%)

Requirements

Senior Scientist: Climate Change and Development
Can you strengthen the Centre's leadership on climate change mitigation and adaptation for poor rural communities through agroforestry bio-sequestration? If so, then an exciting opportunity exists for you in the World Agroforestry Centre Nairobi, Kenya.

The successful candidate will guide our work in the following ways:
Analysis of issues and policy regarding the carbon market as it relates to smallholder agroforestry systems, with emphasis on funding streams for expanding small holder agroforestry in ways that have unique leverage in combining poverty alleviation with climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Develop new opportunities to create agroforestry investments through climate change mitigation with adaptation in collaboration with ICRAF team members and through collaborating partner institutions.
Engagement across the Centre's Global Research Projects for research and the successful up-scaling of agroforestry in the context of both climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Creating and managing partnerships, particularly with respect to the complementary strengths among a range of institutions that are necessary to make investments in smallholder agroforestry for mitigation and adaptation successful.
Communicating the outcomes of research and field experience in this area to a broader international audience at the interface of climate change negotiations, agricultural development, national and sub-national decision makers and the society.

PhD in development, economics, agronomy or other related fields

About RI: Relief International (RI), an international relief and development agency with cross-sectoral programs bridging relief and development, currently seeks Africa Regional Program Development Manager.
Position Summary:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Engage in needs assessment and identification
Contribute to program design, for solicited and unsolicited programs, and for pilot and full scale programs
Where proposals are pending with donor agencies, RPDM should be familiar with the proposal and meet with donor officers to ensure program plans represent a good fit with donor objectives
Where a proposal is not yet submitted, RPDM will attend relevant RFA/P meetings and gather information to be relayed to HQ for the preparation of proposals
Participate in the preparation of funding proposals, including sometimes leading proposal writing efforts
Attend regional and national coordination meetings
Maintain regular contact with donors, IOs, national governments, etc. to track development priorities and inform HQ of upcoming RFA/Ps
Disseminate information about RI achievements to donors and project a positive image of RI as an accountable and responsive NGO partner
Represent RI in other related meetings, seminars, lectures, and presentations ensuring RI plays its full role as an active social development organization.
Represent RI to the diplomatic community, particularly to ambassadors and other representatives of countries to gather relevant information related to program development, for proposal preparation, and to ensure cooperation and support for RI plans
Assist the RI field offices with troubleshooting, backstopping, etc. as requested by HQ
If needed, assist with the field level printing and delivery of proposals, within submission deadlines
Facilitate arrangement of appointments for the senior HQ staff when they travel to the field
Undertake travel within the assigned region as required in the pursuit of the above tasks
Prepare regular activity reports for HQ
Undertake other ad hoc tasks, as instructed by HQ
Operate within RI policy, setting an example for other field staff

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
MA in international relations, business administration or other relevant field
5 years' minimum experience INGO context, previous experience with USAID preferred
10 years' minimum relevant work experience with progressively increasing responsibility
Proven success in grant writing, net-working and liaising with field and HQ staff when necessary

Disaster Response East Africa Program Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and ensure quality field programs and service. Represent Medical Teams International interests with partner organizations, national and international NGOs, government and military agencies. Create and amend Memorandums of Understanding and Operational Understandings between Medical Teams International and other organizations as needed. Manage all phases of field operations: assessment, project planning, set up, recovery, rehabilitation, and shut-down. Conduct field assessments and delegate responsibilities to team members as required. Assess field needs on a regular basis throughout mission, provide situation reports, and communicate regularly with HQ to suggest subsequent teams and specialties, estimated length of operation, needed pharmaceuticals and supplies. Ensure arrangement of in-country accommodation, board, ground transportation, communications set up, field operations, project schedules, and other logistical needs for Medical Teams International teams. Implement and maintain field service agreements, including the hiring, management, payment, and dismissal of national staff and service providers where appropriate. Coordinate medical and logistical volunteers, assigning and delegating esponsibilities as necessary. Ensure proper accounting of field budget. Submit regular financial reports to HQ. When project activities are completed, finalize accounting with HQ International Programs and Finance. Ensure medical protocols, team code of conduct, and other Medical Teams International policies and procedures are adhered to. Ensures statistical field reports and accurate patient records are completed. Submit statistical information and other updates to HQ on a regular basis, and draft reports for donors. Provide HQ with mission report at the end of operation. Make recommendations regarding potential ongoing partnerships and transitional health projects. Assist with gathering and /or researching information for potential grant proposals/funding acquisition. Provide project data or information for proposals. Facilitate and maintain team unity, flexibility, and mission focus. Ensure regular times for team devotions and debriefings. Provide continuity for subsequent Medical Teams International teams that rotate into the mission, including an in-country briefing upon arrival and final de-brief upon departure. Monitor and manage field media interaction. Act as Medical Teams International spokesperson, as required, including providing media interviews, presentations to civic and church groups. Serve in a clinical capacity as determined by International Programs management. Provide assessment for newly proposed projects as required by Medical Teams International Management. Desired Minimum Qualifications: Possession of current medical professional license/certification such as: RN, PA, MPH. Two years experience and proven ability in the design and management of medical relief and rehabilitation projects. Two years experience working with medical teams and/or volunteers. Proven ability to complete health assessments, design programs, draft proposals and reports to donors. Proven abilities in effectively managing health staff. Overseas experience, successful assimilation into a foreign culture. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Email programs. Preference will be given to bilingual candidates. Preference will be given to candidates with medical experience working in developing nations. Commitment to the mission of Medical Teams International. Demonstrated group facilitation and leadership skills. Ability to communicate and relate well with Medical Teams International partners, staff members, volunteer constituents, medical professionals, church and community leaders and international partners, NGO/IGO and government leaders/staff and military personnel. Excellent problem solver, a self-starter; functions well in a multi-task environment. Flexible team player with good negotiation skills. Able to learn operation of field communications equipment (linking to Email, cellular phones, satellite phones, two-way radio, etc.). Must relocate temporarily to Kenya immediately. Must be able to live and work in basic living conditions. Willing to work flex hours, as field needs dictate.
