Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Coordinate all group programming for population-specific support groups and youth groups. Coordinate planning for periodic cultural events.
- Coordinate planning for periodic recreational activities.
- Carry out needs assessments of targeted groups and plan support activities accordingly.
- Help facilitate workshops on a variety of psychosocial issues.
- Submit monthly facilitator’s reports to funder.
- Conduct evaluations of individual activities.
- Handle group programming budget and comply with funder’s financial requirements.
- Work with rest of psychosocial team in collaborative fashion.
- Work with rest of psychosocial team to refer beneficiaries with advanced psychosocial needs to appropriate service providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Recruit train and supervise group program support staff as necessary.
Essential qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of psychosocial issues facing the different refugee populations in Cairo.
- Project management experience from planning through evaluation.
- Experience with group coordination/facilitation.
- Basic knowledge of social, legal and recreational services for refugees in Cairo.
Preferred qualifications:
- Supervisory experience with support staff.
- Budget management experience.
- Familiarity with basic principles of professional behavior and processes in social service provision.
- Arabic language skills, or ability in any other language in use in Cairo’s refugee communities.
The group facilitator generally has an adjusted work week, roughly from Tuesday through Saturday, as group programming often takes place during the weekend. A firm work schedule will be arranged according to the needs of the populations served.
