The BBC WST is currently seeking a Programme Manager to take responsibility for the delivery of a new health media project, “Supporting Optimal Nutrition, Hygiene and Health Seeking Behaviour through Media and Communication in Somalia”. The position will be based in Nairobi, with frequent travel to Somaliland. The project encompasses a weekly radio drama and interactive discussion programme; a community outreach component; and comprehensive research activities.
The position holder will be responsible for the day to day delivery, management and coordination of the project, reporting to the Country Director East Africa. S/he will also supervise the delivery of additional smaller projects from time to time.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of complex NGO or media project management, preferably in Somalia; including responsibility for financial management, report writing and donor/partner relationships; relevant tertiary qualifications; strong communication skills; and an understanding of the role of media in development. Experience of radio drama and programme-making, and the media sector in East Africa would be an advantage; Somali fluency also an advantage.
