Laboratory Specialist
Under the leadership of the Country Director, the laboratory specialist will oversee and provide technical and managerial support to the laboratories in the DCI-supported health facilities and sites. The laboratory specialist will establish and maintains collaborative relationships with counterparts in government, multi lateral and bi-lateral donor agencies and civil society to address emerging issues related to laboratory work at the medical facilities and sites supported by DCI in Rwanda.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Iaboratory; Biomedical Science or related fields, a master's degree in the above mentioned related fields will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of three years working in a clinical laboratory
- Experience with laboratory tests and techniques required for the diagnosis and monitoring of the following (but not limited to): HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, STIs, and other infectious diseases.
- Experience working with laboratory equipments, reagents and consumables required for the above mentioned infections.
- Training/ Coaching experience with Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Histopathology
- Excellent English language oral and written communication skills. Professional proficiency in French also required. Ability to communicate in Kinyarwanda is preferred.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communicative skills; Leadership, coaching and team building skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships. Strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and make decisions.
- Capacity to work both in a team and independently and the ability to utilize adult learning strategies in education.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively to work with the staff of the Points of Service.
- Ability to provide written communication in a timely manner and adjusted to various levels of comprehension.
- Able to use MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook Express and Internet Explorer.
